Around the World in 80 Days.

I can't believe they remade this movie. I have zero desire to watch it.

Doesn't look like a movie I'd be especially interested in seeing.

On another note - my girlfriend (who is Korean) is a bit annoyed at him for continuously making movies where he plays these silly roles because she says it contributes to the silly stereotype of Asians that Hollywood likes to perpetuate. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Actors gotta eat... Black actors have been doing that for DECADES now. Pretty much "comedy and action" are the breakthrough genres before you get any serious chances at "drama".

Actually I agree with your gf. He actually hurts Asians by consistently playing the fool

I don't agree since that is his trademark ever since he started. That's what pple expect when watching Jackie's movies.

He's been called the Asian Buster Keaton for a reason. He's done very few dramatic or serious roles over the entire course of his career. His main audience - Asians - seem to love his movies and roles he has taken for himself. So, considering his 'stereotype' is what he's done to make himself big in his own homeland, I suspect the folks in Hong Kong would disagree.

...that and it's difficult to get popular in American movies. I read Jackie's life-story a few years ago and think he deserves all the fame he's received.

You guys should see this Steven Chow(?) movie where he spoofs Jackie Chan. He does a stunt using a body double and then runs down to the crash area and acts all hurt...

Good stuff.

I'll tell you what stereotype I've seen in movies involving asians that needs to go: they never get to kiss the love interest. Why doesn't an asian lead get to kiss his female co-star? Jet Li didn't kiss Alyah in Romeo Must Die, and Chan didn't kiss Hewitt in Tuxedo. The list goes on and on. Is there some rule that American audiences don't want to see an asian actor kiss an american actress, or is this simply a hollywood blackball?

Maybe kissing would make the male actor look shorter?

http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showth...highlight=heel (Any of you women actually do this?)

But then again, if you read anything about Bruce Lee, he was always pissed about asians getting blackballed, so I don't know. Hollywood is whack, fo sho.
