Bulls to send Chandler and #7 pick to Indiana for Harrington
Just heard it on ESPN. Didn't check the site to find an article on it.
Anyway, the idea is that Indiana is going to get a big body and use the #7 pick on Luke Jackson from Oregon to be their next Reggie Miller. Harrington is a nice pick-up for the Bulls. He's a solid player. I'd love to see a decent team work a trade for him. |

Why do I feel like the Pacers got the better end of the deal. If Chandler develops, they get another big man who can play the 5 spot.

I'd say this one is pretty even. On the one hand, Harrington is the next Jermaine O'Neal. But the Pacers already have a Jermaine O'Neal, and they can't split the PT between the two of them. So instead, the Pacers get a big body who still has the potential to blossom, plus a shooting guard to replace the soon-to-depart Reggie.
No chance this kid will have Reggie's ability to score in the clutch, though. |

Harrington is more of a small forward than a power forward. Imagine a lineup of Chandler, O'Neal, Artest, Jackson and Tinsley.

Jackson only needs to be a spot up shooter. If one of the point guards falls, they could draft a pretty good PG.

Tinsley is streaky, but they can pick up a solid backup. And Harrington can play the 4. In Indiana he got pushed into a 3 spot. He's a pretty versatile player. Kinda like a Lamar Odom, without the ball-handling skills.

In my mind Harrington is better suited for the 4 than the 3

generally, i think picking up chandler is a mistake, because he's been such a bomb. but indiana still has o'neil and bender (if he could learn to play inside instead of jacking up 3s), plus a project player in chandler and a really high draft pick.
perhaps they can ship out chandler for a better backup PG. i think chicago made a poor trade here. sure, harrington is a good player, and i think he has even more potential. but they're losing a high draft pick plus a big man, basically giving away two players and getting one. and while i could be proven wrong here, i really don't see harrington as a guy who can anchor a team and lead it to respectabilty. |

I would personally die for Chandler/Curry to be on the Knicks. I dont think you ever pass up the chance to acquire potentially decent big men in the NBA.

Indy wants a big man so it could play against Detroit.
I don't think the Bulls lose much to give up #7 pick since this draft sucks. |

The Pacers almost handled the Pistons in this year's playoffs. The teams are still pretty evenly matched. I don't think the motivation behind this trade was to make them match up better against Detroit (a team whose look will be changing anyway, with Darko getting more experience and more new guys coming in).

Looks like this trade didn't happen... Oh well...
They went for a 7 Foot guy (David Harrison) from Colorado with their pick (#29) in the first round... Oh well... I guess Harrington is just gonna have to stay here until a better trade presents itself. ![]()

David Aldridge said it was supposed to happen. Don't blame me, I was just the messenger.
Actually, if this doesn't go through, I'd be happy. I'd love for the Heat to get into a 3 way deal that lets them trade Eddie Jones and Caron Butler, then pick up Harrington and a future #1 pick. I'm willing to give up Butler to get an athletic big. |
