MTV Video Music Awards

So what did you guys think?

I missed the last half hour or so but here are my thoughts so far
-I guess they weren't kidding about not having a host. Seemed to turn out OK though.
-That arena/staduim whatever it was that they used was pretty sweet. I really liked the setup.
-Hoobastank....wtf was that. Is that dude really that tone-deaf or did he just catch a cold?
-Why did they bring the Kerry/Bush daughters out there if they were going to pretend to be nice to each other. It would have been better to see them arguing. Or boxing - that would be tiiiiight. Tag team match?

I hope to catch the end of it later

i thought they sucked, altho i only watched bits and pieces.
i did like the Stevie Wonder-Alicia Keys-Lennie Kravitz vocal 3-some though.

if you missed any of it, and really want to see it, i am sure they will re-broadcast 100's of times.

I enjoyed Christina's performance with Nelly...and Outkast closing out the show was good too. I skipped all the awards and that crap.

I only saw bits and pieces. I thought it was stupid how long it took them to get up to the stage.

Hoobastank is touted as being a great performing live band. I'm sad that they came off as run of the mill, can't perform live, kind of band. His voice is dead on at most shows.

I didn't watch them too much but I checked the winners at the end of the night and I think their choices were completely wrong

i can vouch for that - saw em live at a rock festival here.
honestly? they suck. like they have no substance at all.

theyre a big hit with girls, maybe cuz they think the singer is cute? i dunno. he seems to like running around the stage with his shirt off.
The Strokes who pretty much just stood there for the most part of their set in the festival had more soul, substance, and depth comapred to hoobastank.

as for MTV awards, i think they wanted Dave Chappell to be the host, but he declined, but just came in as a guest. In a recent Chappell Show, he was kidding about how bitter he was about it - why MTV is just now only this year asking him to host. "where were they in 1997? Is Chris Rock not available? "

i think MTV lost its "edge" over a decade ago, and even MTV2 cant recapture that "cool" factor anymore. it panders to young kids and its demographics, feeding them with corporate crap. ironically its now eschewing the very same things it initially went up against when it first started.

Commercial, not an actual part of a show it was actually a commercial for the VMA's

Aww man, I never saw that one.

I liked the one where they called up Nelly and asked him if he knew any funny people while he was hanging out with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock though

Did you see the other Chappelle one?
