Thumbs up NORAH JONES!!!! live in philly tonight 9/04

and yet another awesome gig to go to - WOOHOO!!!!

i got a kickass seat too - 6th row center orchestra from the pit, which, at the Mann is real close to the stage. i lucked out!!! YAY!!!

this is her 4th time here in philly, and my second time to see her perform live. the first time i was too stupid to not go and it was at a very small venue, the second was when she opened for Dave Matthews and i didnt know about it. I saw her last year after she won her Grammy sweep. that was a terrible evening. i got lawnseats, it was raining hard, i got wet, i was cold, it was muddy, worst of all, i couldnt see her from the distance.

now i have a great view of the performance (and of HER!), and i should be able to take pics more freely than at the electric factory.

i actually have 2 extra seats at the balcony, but im gonna give them away since i dont need em now. im just psyched i get to see her up close. man, i love her...

Why do I need a password and username to see the pics?

Awesome. I haven't seen Norah in concert yet, but I would highly suggest seeing Alicia Keys perform live. She's unbelievable live.

that was a fun concert - as mellow as her music sounds, she is FUNNY! in between songs she'd recount some funny anecdote, or do some comic impression. apparently shes a BIG King Of The Hill fan - she tried to do a weak impression of Hank, but did a good job with Bobby's voice.
But yeah, she best stick to her day job.
You can tell she's having fun on stage with her band members, and she isnt very ego-centric when it comes to stage presence. she lets the spotlight shine on each of them as they play their parts, going to the very edge of the stage sometimes, even going behind the other members. even her piano is offcenter.
but she sounds as GREAT as her albums. i was enraptured - totally immersed in her music. Plus she is very down-to-earth, and always cracks jokes. i love that in a performer. makes it easy for people to be comfortable around her.

and there were A LOT of people that went. cars are stuck for over a mile, i think, and parking was horrendous. traffic speed was either slow or stop.

bad news is that i didnt get to take many pics at all, and i only got blurry ones. i got shined on with a flashlight by one event staff. he he! thing is, they couldnt get to me since i was dead center, and very close to the stage. either the people to the right or left of me stand up, or they disrupt Norah's performance. but out of respect, i turned it off. ill have more chances in the future.

for now i leave you with this clip from the concert. its not the best quality by any means, but it shows how much fun she's having, and how funny she can be, even when the song is quite somber and mellow.
