I want Matt Gutierrez to be healthy. Then we can play again wherever and whenever you want!

He was healthy and playing today... just not at QB. C'mon, cut me some slack. It's rough being a ND fan these days. We have to cherish every little triumph we can... Although beating #8 Michigan will be sweet for quite a while...

That's ok. Maybe that victory will help you get through another 5 win season.

GO CANES!

don't underestimate the importance of beating michigan. the rest of the season could be mediocre but we'll all say, yeah, but we beat michigan.

Yeah, he was the place holder. I wouldn't blame it so much on not having Gutierrez in as QB as I would on the lack of any running back with experience (yeah, yeah, I know the guy from ND is a freshman). Jackson and Hart were consistently running into the back of their own blockers, they just seemed to lack the vision that comes with playing time. Henne threw some pretty good passes and looked far more aged than a true freshman but I suppose his being in the game could have held Lloyd back from being more aggressive through the air....I did notice Henne's play fakes were pretty sad looking and he wanted to hook up with Braylon Edwards just about every attempt. It was a sad game to watch (for fans of both teams) until circa the 4th quarter when ND had that one counter/belly type run that they would push to the outside time and time again for 5-6 yards and that's when everything just fell apart (well, for us UM fans).

It hadn't hit me until they showed that stat during the game that this was the 5th straight year for Michigan losing their road opener to the season.

Michigan lost their starting RB in the first quarter as well. But I won't blame it on that. I think they needed a leader on the field, and that would have been Gutierrez.

i am deeply gratified ANY TIME i see u-m leave the field as losers. i hate ND (hopefully we can kick their ass next week), but i was a fan of the Fighting Irish for one day, and how sweet it was! Michigan can kiss the national championship buh-bye!

Pfft... State... who cares about them? Win or lose, ND still beat Michigan. The season is complete =).

I have little faith in Michigan State since they lost to Rutgers of all teams.
