Jeopardy :Ken loses?

Word out is that the Jeopardy wunderkind Ken Jennings is finally going to end the longest winning streak in game show history. By coincidence (or is it?) it is the last day of November Ratings Sweeps when TV shows try to grab maximum audiences so they can charge top dollar for advertisers on the show. He has won over $2.5 million so far. The rumour is that the question is fairly simple, but not obvious- that once you know the answer it is easy, but at first glance it is not so simple. For me, and many others, I am tired of seeing him every time I try to watch the show- although he is one of the best Jeopardy players ever (or has he had help?- conspiracy theorists can have a ball on this one!).

Yup - tonight it is. The question is something like, what company has the largest number of temporary workers, who only work an average of 4 months out of the year?

I won't spoil the answer.

(BTW - apparently, this episode was already broadcast in Canada somewhere. No surprise that they waited until sweeps week here in the states)

Thank Gawd he's gone, I can finally attempt to watch the show without seeing his smug little face......

Answer: You'd love to give Ken this and then some.

Questions: What is a huge can of whoop @$$

$2.5M...wow!

Bet he won't spend any of it on FedEX!

And H&R Block is going to get their share--gotta love the irony!

Dude...i don't understand why he's so hated. He wasn't smug. He was very casual and very humble. He didn't gloat. He was one of the nicer winners, and I'm glad because I've seen tons of winners who were so annoying I couldn't live with seeing him 75 times.

Actually H&R Block gave him free tax prep for life, because he didn't know their name

Some free and good advertising for Block!

What the heck did he ever do to you guys? I understand that we are a society that roots for the underdog but to be mean to the favorite for no other reason... that I don't get.

Oops...didn't read that far into the article.

And I agree--he was one of the nicer contestants that Jeopardy has had. A lot of people that weren't regular Jeopardy watchers started watching again because of the hype surrounding Ken...I think the whole episode has been a good thing for Jeopardy. We just hate him because he's loaded now

Hey to each our own, it depends on how you want to look at it. I hated him you loved him. That is what makes this a great country. If he's your hero fine. If he's my villian also fine. no big whoop.

I personally got sick and tired of all (what I viewed as) smug smirks, laughs and what not. I couldn't bare to watch the show. I only tuned in today to watch him lose.

I am sure he is a nice guy, hell he is giving 10 percent or was it twenty to the LDS church. I wouldn't do that. Different things annoy different people. another example, many people here hated P3rsian and flamed him. I didn't see why but people did.

His record won't be broken anytime soon.

Hope he enjoys his $2.5M-10%-tax.

He lost to Nancy Zerg, a realtor from Ventura here in California.

I guess this begs to be asked: He lost to the mighty Zerg Rush?

So what could he have done (other than lose) to make you "not sick and tired" of him? Stood there and be a question answering robot with no emotions or smiling? I'm sure that would be annoying as well...

Basically, I guess people don't like people who win who are not "them".

Sounds to me that you have underlying issues with reasoning above... but that's OK as well. Please pass the cup of "hateraid" when you are finished with it.

I didn't hate the guy... it was a novelty (his winning) for a while but then I just eventually forgot about it all together and didn't watch the show until last night

The show is still a contest and part of the enjoyment (for me certainly) besides trying to see how many correct questions I can come up with is also to find out the outcome. When Ken was on it was often over by the second half. It became "OK so Ken wins again" yawner. It is like the Yankees winning the World Series. Yes they are all great, but there is no excitement when you know the outcome. I even didn't watch him lose because I already knew what would happen.
