"Raptors reportedly trade Carter to Nets "

Maybe now he'll be happy....

Quote:
The New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors have agreed on a trade that would send Vince Carter to New Jersey, according to a broadcast report.

The report, citing unnamed league sources, said the Raptors have acquired Alonzo Mourning, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and two first-round draft picks in exchange for Carter, who had been unhappy playing in Toronto.

The N.Y. Daily News reports the two first-round picks going to Toronto were acquired in the off-season Kenyon Martin trade.

According to NBA protocol, all trades must be approved by the league office and all players must pass physicals before the deal becomes official.

Carter, averaging 15.9 points per game this season, is currently on the injured list with a strained left Achilles tendon.

He was hurt in the first minute of the second half in Toronto's 90-86 overtime loss at Detroit on Wednesday.

"It's just something that's been bothering me for three years,'' Carter said. "I want to let it settle down and get better instead of having it nag me.''

A Carter trade to New Jersey would be a strong indication (especially to point guard Jason Kidd) that the Nets are committed to winning this season.

Wow two teams I don't think have a shot making a move. Kidd plus Carter doesn't necessarily equal wins. NJ wouldn't exactly be bringing in a proven winner. I'll hold back my enthusiasm until they hoist a trophy.

I think a few players are loyal to their teams. Garnett and Duncan I cannot imagine on other teams. (But then again, I thought certain players like McGrady would stay put and they didn't...) Also, players don't always have a say in where they go.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

Yeah I was thinking that too. Kidd does get his teammates some breakaway dunks, so Carter will get some face time, but I don't think it will really improve the team. Carter will have decent numbers, but I think that can be deceiving. The Nets are, after all, the team that catapulted Richard Jefferson to extremely overrated star status just because of their fast break style.

richard jefferson is one of the most overrated players in the NBA.

i don't really see how carter is going to help NJ that much....an injury-prone jumpshooter who is afraid to take it in the lane and can't play defense. that would be an asset to any ballclub.

it seems that the nets got a pretty good deal on him though.

Thanks, Cheapchinese, for giving someone (but not me) an excuse to post that picture of Vince dunking over that 7 footer when he was playing for Team USA.

Vicious. I love that picture. Vince is still as frail as a 10 year old schoolgirl, but that was a great dunk.

To me, the more important aspect of this trade is that somehow Alonzo might get back to the Heat somehow. I just want the guy back in Miami to play like 10 minutes a game, give Shaq a breather, and help us get deep into the playoffs.

Hehehe that's why I used the term "USA basketball team" instead of "Dream Team".
