I think it's cool to leave them here. That way we can just make one stop for all our movie review info.

And you're correct Panache, I pity the fool that doesn't agree that the BDogg is cool.

I'd rather see it all here. There's plenty of movies I haven't seen.

Also, the reviews for a DVD could be different for a theater movie--paying per-person for a movie on the big screen is different from a one-time rental to watch from your couch.

I myself would rather see a different thread for DVD's so they don't get mixed up with each other....

I think it would be great for DVD's...i just borrowed some from my daughter to watch.... so i can give my input about those later......

Only my thoughts....

And i should say it doesn't matter to me what you do...i just follow right along.....

Ben?

Maybe you should do a poll. Or you know what it's your thread. You choose. But I agree with Peache.

Cool New DVD Thread

I don't know how to set up a poll, so I figured I'd just set up the new thread. We can mix them though. I mean, if you're here tyipng a review for a movie you saw and also want to review a DVD in the same post, go ahead! (And vice-versa of course). It doesn't really matter to me. I've got lots of DVDs I can lend out to you guys and gals, so a new thread might make more sense to do separate threads.

Here's the link: http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85301 (Ben's DVD Review Thread)

"The Pacifier" gets one thumb up, one thumb down from me. It was okay. It wasn't the best movie, but it wasn't the worst either.

Well Navyones, The Pacifier gat $30.2 million on it's opening weekend it may not be a good movie, but you have to agree that it's one of the few good family movies out there that do not resort to foul language to get a laugh.
Now let's see how Robots will do next week.

Saxon gave The Jacket 4 Stars (which is about the highest review he gives!). I was surprised to hear how much he enjoyedit. He said it was more of a psychological thriller and not too scarry. I'll still be skipping it, but it's good to know he liked it. --Ben Dogg

Let me know if you get more extra tickets! Thanks again for the Be Cool tickets. I forgot to mention I got a cool poster with Uma on it.

I saw a Comedy Central half hour show on Be Cool and it was pretty funny. Although I am kinda sick of Travolta at the moment I would like to see it because of The Rock. I saw the scene where he does the "Bring it On" scene between the two cheerleaders That was almost funny enough for a matinee I thought.

Drool Meet The Fockers

I agree with Raimin, it was pretty funny, but not quite as good as the original. Definitely worth the price of a rental though. I'll be on vacation for a week so you kiddies behave!--Ben Dogg

Was there anything about how cool his hybrid was? I love how both movies had him making the best of nerdy type vehicles.

very similiar to get shorty where it was a mini van i think

He bascially bragged aout the mileage, compared to the hummers, how it didnt matter that it was slow, since when you're imprtant, people wait for you, etc

Hostage

Went to see Hostage last nite....

I like Bruce Willis.... i thought the show was good. I jumped about 4 times. I think i even scared my hubby when i jumped...The lady behind me screamed out 2 times....

Thriller
1 hr. 42 min. A police officer is wracked by guilt from a prior stint as a negotiator. When a mafia accountant is taken hostage on his beat, he must negotiate the standoff, even as his own family is held captive by the mob.

R: for strong graphic violence, language and some drug use. And there is lots of strong language....

Hubby wanted to see this show, so i went along to keep him company.... glad i did.... alot of action.

I even got a T-Shirt....about time....

I give this movie a 4 out of 5
or a A

Robots, too.

Just got back from Robots.
Yes, very fast moving, really good animation, storyline a bit thin but good, happy fun for kids. Also, lots of inuendos for adults, including pieces from ads from our youth...kinda the subtle humor we got from the old Bugs Bunny shows.

I see this one going to video pretty quickly, but probably worth adding to your archive when it does.

I'd also give it a B, but might even go see it again with a different crowd (just for all of the extensive graphics.)

I have free AMC tix to use whenever. Is it worth seeing in the theater or should I wait for the DVD? I love Robin Williams and am looking forward to it.

Saw robots at the imax in spectrum. VERY nice picture. Story was so-so. I pretty much wanted to see it simply because robin williams was in it. And while he did a good job, it wasn't enough to carry the movie. I agree with the B.

First...Siskel & Roeper gave it one thumb up, one down (in that order.) The criticism was that all of the dialog was bland, and the Robin Williams character was just a continuation of all his other characters.

I said, "...but [i] might even go see it again with a different crowd..." are you inviting me? just kiddin'...
If you enjoy fast-paced fun-feeling animations with a predictable (but filled-out) story-line, then you'll probably quite enjoy it. And based on your personality in other threads I suspect that you will...enjoy it with some fun-loving, youthful friends.

Siskel & Roeper: One thumb up, one down (that order). Criticism was that it started out well then half-way through the movie spun out of control.

I heard it was very DieHard-like, but with more (too much?) violence.

You're going to like it. It was preaty funny.

Now to the business at hand. My prediction came true
The Pacifier, $30.2 million vs. Robots, $36.5 million

Hitch is still the most gross movie this year with $43.1 million opening weekend.

And Ice Age opened to $46.3M three years ago; although the CGI in Robots are better. My next prediction is Ice Age 2 will beat the records when it comes out.

The Upside of Anger

Story: The Upside of Anger.

A strong mother of four teenage daughters tries to deal with her anger after her husband runs off with his secretary. With every day, her anger grows and she clings harder and harder to her daughters as they grow up and try to gain independence. Meanwhile, a washed-up ex-baseball player neighbor pays regular visits for the food and company.

The mother's anger slowly drives her daughers and neighbor away until she realizes that she's destroying everything she loves.

Finally, things start to come back together as things wrap up nicely.

--
I felt that movie was very well acted, but the plot moves along slowly, very slowly. Did I say that th plot moved along slowly? The storyline was very monlithic: focusing strongly on the mother and a few sidesteps to show that each daughter also had a life. If they had offered more perspective on the daughter's lives, I think that the slow parts would have been more interesting. However, the movie had a very fulfilling ending, where all of the loose ends tied together very well.

All in all, I'd have to give it a D- (I don't think I'd even watch it on TV) but since this is a "chick flick" I think that most women would enjoy it. If you're a guy, take a date who's appreciates "sensitive" guys.

I also was there at this movie.... Yeppers i thought it was good movie.... maybe a tad slow in places... but i know the audience at times was roaring...i know where i sit the guy behind laughed through most of it.... unless he was having gas paines or something.....

I thought the end was sad...all this time she thought very low of her hubby and what a surprise the end did bring......

As a chick i would give this movie a B in my books...... better then some of the movies i have been to lately.......

A few days ago i watched The Ring....at home.... i guess i had seen it before but don't remember where or when..... but to me it was not that scarey....i know i jumped when it first started......

Tonite i went to see Ring 2.... i can say i would not have paid to go see either one of these movies.....
Ring 2 is very slow and its about the same thing over and over..... just not as much killing in this movie as the first.... and they say there is going to be a ring 3 and 4....

After reading the reviews on this i can only give it about a C-

The lady in front of us..... put her jacket almost over her face and everytime something happend she would scream......i think i was watching her more then the movie......

And i know it was not Bricheese.......
