Inglorious Basterds

I give it a B. There was a long set up but it wrapped up well. I think it could have been done better. Brad Pitt definitely the highlight of the movie. I expected more Taratino so I'm kind of disappointed in the amount violence i.e. not enough. My wife fell asleep 3 times. If you can stay awake through the first 2 hours then the last portion will go by at a good pace.

Thumbs up Where you at peeps?

Okay people, I find it very hard to believe that nobody is seeing movies anymore . So let's pump some life back into this dying thread and let each other know if the holiday movies suck or are worth the admission price.

Heeding my own advice, here's a quick review of Harry Potter 6, which I expect to be on DVD by Christmas:

I give the film an A-. I am an avid fan of the books and was not too dissapointed with the cuts they made. I think the movies began getting better with Prisoner of Azkaban (#3) and have been pretty close to the books since then.

OK, I'll play:

Where the Wild Things Are

I'll give this a solid D+ if you go in with the expectation of seeing a happy kid's movie. This was like watching an emo kid on a gloomy rainy day sitting in his room listening to sad music after his girlfriend died in a car crash. Sad & depressing from beginning to end!

Now on the other hand, if you go in looking for a kinda well done movie that's full of symbolism about a kid struggling with feelings & emotions he doesn't understand, I'd bump it up to a B-. Do NOT take your kids to see it, tho.

Movies are expensive... times are hard.

For me to go see one, it has to be an EXCEPTIONAL/BLOCKBUSTER that I just MUST see in a theater. Otherwise... I can wait for the DVD.

Unfortunately, one of my friends took my son to see this... and he ended up crying his eyes out. So yeah... this isn't a movie for the kids I suppose. Personally, I didn't see it.

BDogg! How's it going...was talkin' about you recently...guess I gotta call.

Anyway, been so busy with so many things, I really haven't seen many movies. I think the last one was an animation about this guy whose house is raise up on balloons when it's threatened to be leveled by a large corporation. I can't remember the name, but you all probably remember seeing it. It was pretty decent but not quite top notch so solid B.

Where's Peachie? I KNOW she's gone to a lot of movies (at least according to her FaceBook messages.) BDogg, if you have a FB account, look me up.

Not sure if you are serious about forgetting the name of the movie, since you mention it in your post (but then again, my sarcasm detector failed on me). It was Up. I haven't seen that one yet, so I guess I'll wait till the Blu-Ray comes out.

Last movie(s) I saw was the 3D version of Toy Story & Toy Story 2. I felt the 3D effects were fairly well-done, and definitely added a good sense of depth to the films (without being too distracting though). Both of these early Pixar classics still are fun to watch today. A+

I knew it was a simple name but too many things in my brain these days push out the trivial stuff. Now what was the name of this site again?

Way to respond guys! Up will be on DVD next week. Good to know Where the Wild things Are was depressing. Has anyone seen Couple's Retreat? I want to know if it's worth $10.

Finally, if you've never tried Red Box for DVD rentals, give it a shot! They are only $1 per night and specialize in new releases. Red Box has locations inside most Albertson's, Wal-Marts, Stater Bros, and Walgreens locations. Use the promo code BREAKROOM for a free 1-night rental. You can reserve online @ www.redbox.com and return the disc to any Red Box location.

Thumbs up The Blind Side

I saw The Blind Side last week. It was GREAT! A very touching film about a down-trodden kid who needed a helping hand. Sandra Bullock did a wonerful job, and this was her best film in a while. I give it a solid A

i watched A Christmas Carol last week, the animated version with Jim Carrey. I give it a D because it didn't really tell the story well. It tried too hard to make it dramatic and emotional.

I just saw Avatar(3D) a couple of hours ago. I didn't really know what to think walking into the theater, but it was AWESOME. I think it was the best movie I saw this year. Those of you who saw the previews may have noticed that most of it is computer generated, which it is; I believe 60 percent was the number I heard.

The main character is a twin of a guy who died while working on the "Avatar" project. In a nutshell, the DNA of a human is injected into a native of this planet and is grown, and through some fantastic technology, the human is able to control the native. The main character (as I'm horrible with names) transitions through the movie from an ex-marine who is here for his own advancement to a member of the planet who fights for it's survival. The 3d effect was an awesome touch. I couldn't give it anything but an A+ It was LONG too. 3 hours or so. The theater smelled like arse when it was over. haha

Edit: I think the main character's name was Jake.

saw avatar 3-d imax yesterday...

visually it was amazing... def worth watching in imax 3D

story was kinda whatever... but I think the fact that southpark compared the Na'vi to the smurfs ruined it for me... hahahaha

but the visuals alone is worth watching on the biggest screen you can find in 3d

just saw the movie in 3d. def the best movie i've seen at the theater in years. absolutely loved it and will try and get back and see it again soon. i've never seen a movie twice at the theater so that's saying something.

yeah...the story was very predictable. VERY predictable but that didn't ruin it for me at all. i also didn't think the sound was all that great. i will love watching it in my HT when it comes out but will miss the 3d effects.

did i say i liked it? well i did!

Sherlock Holmes was pretty good. I saw it on Christmas but haven't really been on since then. Plot was decent. I would compare this movie to "The Prestige", but with a lot more humor thrown in. I'd give it a B+.

I watched "World's Greatest Dad" on DVD this weekend. Pretty dark. Robin Williams was really good at walking that funny/serious line.

I saw it last week and meant to post then but didn't. Book of Eli is another incredible movie. It's a post apocalypse flick that I thought bore a striking resemblance to Fallout 3. To tell the truth, I don't want to tell you all many of the details because that's what made it so awesome for me. I give it an easy A. Really touching movie too, which you wouldn't guess from the previews.

I saw Wolfman on Friday. Of the 5 in our group, 3 of us paid 9 bucks for a comfortable seat to sleep in. I thought it was pretty bad. The action isn't bad, but my major beef was with the lack of character development. Obviously, with a movie about a werewolf, the focus is going to be on the nights with a full moon. That's when all the good action is supposed to be. The movie covers 4 or 5 full moons, I think, but there is very little space in between. It's like, fast forward to the next full moon. I'm not going to say the movie was "bad", but I don't agree with the 6.8 it has on IMDB. I would give it a C+ for the good action, but I just felt it was hurting.

just saw District 9 via amazon and it was pretty frickin awesome. It got me so emotionally caught in the movie that I was cursing at the dude during the movie......

I recommend, and I'm looking forward to a sequel.

I saw The Crazies earlier today. It's pretty good. It's a refreshing change from your typical zombie movie. Fairly basic plot as far as these movies go: people start going nuts, and the sheriff is trying to find out why. There's not really a whole lot to say about it, as I hate to ruin things for people, but I'd give it a B+.

Like any other home theater furniture home theater chairs come in various materials and in various shapes and size. There are various brands that have come about with tons of options for people looking to buy luxurious and innovative furniture for their living room.

I saw part of Brooklyn's Finest on Tuesday evening. I brought along 2 bottles of Jack and was distracted throughout most of the movie, but from what I saw and remember it was pretty good. Heh...I can't even give it a rating, but I give that night's rating an A+

I saw Kickass and was very surprised at how awesome it was. It is a story about a high school kid who is tired of crime and decides to become a masked vigilante. The story line is much more complicated than that, but I'm going to try to not give too much away. I will put this on a "must see" list and give it an A. Nicholas Cage has the best role of his career!

Iron Man 2

Just saw it. Less action then the first. Plot was okay. I give it a solid B. The first one was much better. The acting wasn't very good all around. Scar Jo is hot tho. Like OMG. They didn't show give her boobs the attention they deserve. Disappointing yet better than Viagra in a pinch. Nice butt too. What movie am I taking about again?
