Thumbs up Millions

Watched a premiere screening of 'Millions' tonight at the Landmark Hillcrest.

A very fun family movie with crazy plot twists, fantasy/heavenly elements , and a number of important lessons about money, family, and what prosperity really is.

I saw Millions. It was pretty cool. Worth standing in line for.

I saw Ring2 and I liked it better than the first one. This time you get to find out what that weird stuff from the first movie is all about. Had some nice scary parts.

Thumbs up Upside of Anger

Thanks for the 'Anger' reviews guys and gals. I went to see it Saturday by myself (yeah, I know it was a chick flick and going alone kinda makes me a loser, but too damn bad! I had 2 hrs to kill and I got in free!) and really enjoyed it.

Kevin Costner did a great job. I haven't really seen him play a character this laid-back before. A stark contrast to his character in The Bodyguard (which I also liked).

While it did move a little slow, I wasn't waiting for it to end. The 2 hours went by pretty fast for me. I was into all of the characters, but was blown away by Erika Christensen. She played Andy, and boy howdy is she beautiful!

I give this one an A-, which is better than average (a B) in my book.

I also saw the first 20 minutes of Robots and enjoyed it. I may have to take my mom and sistrers to see the whole thing sometime soon, or just wait for the DVD (rental). --Ben Dogg

Robots

What can i say, it was a kids movie and i know the kids in the theater seem very content with the show....

The animation was great...i am not going to say it was one of the best i have seen, but being free that was enough for me.....
It was funny.

For on a kids view, i would have given it a B

I rate this movie:
(A) I'd pay full price to see this one

Great film by a first time director. If you like art films this is one to see. It's fun seeing how this girl who is about to get married to a dull rich guy deals with this other guy she meets/kisses at a party. The end was not what I expected.

Guess Who

This was a great movie..... we enjoyed this....laughed so hard... and even laughed harder listening to ppl in the audience.

Comedy
1 hr. 37 min

Bernie Mac keeps you stitches of laughing....

Percy Jones (Bernie Mac) is taking no chances with his daughter Theresa's (Zoe Saldana) future. Even before he meets Simon Green, her latest boyfriend, Percy has him checked out. On paper, he passes with flying colors -- great job, good investments and a promising future. But there's one thing the credit report didn't tell him: Simon Green (Ashton Kutcher) is white.

I gave this movie an B+

Dear Frankie

This show was very good....was in a Scotish accent, which was not too bad to understand.
About a deaf, 9 year old boy and his mother..moving from place to place in Scotland.....there are reasons why....but i don't want to say, incase some of you are planning on seeing the movie....

Its a very long and slow movie..... the movie theater was quiet except for a few places for a (laugh) but a movie of being serious.......

I had never been to the Landmark in LaJolla before.... got to get new seats in there....

I would rate this movie as a B......

Thumbs up Freddy's Reviews

Thanks for popping your head in here Paniolo! A lot of people seem to think that movie was good.

I don't remember how many stars he gave it, but Fred did like Dear Frankie. I think it was like 3 or 3.5 stars.

He also really liked The Upside of Anger. He gave it a strong 4 stars and said although it may fall into the 'Chick Flick' category, it was way beyond that.

He didn't like Miss Congeniality 2. He gave it a weak 2.5 stars. I'm pretty sure I'll skip this one. -- Ben Dogg

The Pacifier

Well I'm obviously a bit behind on my movies, but a group of us went to see The Pacifier tonight.

As a lot of other G|A'ers mentioned a few pages back, this is definately a great family film, and one that definately had us in fits of laughter throughout the entire film.

Vin Diesel made a wise move to cancel out of xXx2 for this.

Saw this movie about 2 weeks ago. the theatre was filled with kids. My first Vin Diesel flic and I loved it. Kids laughed thru the whole pic. No sex, no cussing and the right amount of fighting to keep the kids happy. Also went yesterday to see Miss Congeniality 2. Loved that also but it is definitely a chick flick. Sandra is a cutie for sure. Kind of like the 2005 version of Sandra Dee. And yes I am ooooold enough to have seen Sandra Dee's movies when they came out!

Dear Frankie

I rate this movie:
worth full admission price

This is a tale about a deaf boy and his mother. The boy's father supposedly is a sailor who hasn't seen the boy in years but writes letters to him. His nemesis finds out the boat the father is on will be docking soon and bets him the father won't see his son. The boy's most prized possesions on now on the line. You should go watch the movie to find out the rest.

Another great art film without any superstars or stuff blowing up.
