Holy crap... and people say soccer is boring.
I tried to get to a Manchester United game last time I was over there, but they were playing away. That would be something to see... |

Soccer fans are the craziest so no surprised here. Anyway I would love to watch European soccer games but either they are not available or it's too expensive.

And as I saw the smoke rise off the field that day, I knew that we had been pwned by the fans.

It is really sad to see sport fans get this stupid. It is just proof that U.S. sport fans don't have the corner on the market, when it comes to acting stupid.

That isn't that bad, soccer games have a bad history of holligans and riots....
I know Liverpool played juventus for the first time in 20yrs after a HUGE inncident, this really never happens in this US so.. Link http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ster_revisited More info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heysel_Stadium_disaster Mostly, 39fans were killed before the game in a clash between the two teams supporters. My roommate was telling me when juventus played liverpool for the first time in 20yrs a little bit ago. A bunch of liverpool fans helped up a sign saying we're sorry. The juventus fans turned around and showed them their backs and raised their hands and flicked them off in return. Back to the flares, if you read some of the articles, it says how a italian team(maybe inter). Tossed a moped off the upper balcony, now that is funny. Mostly the ref blew the call right in front of all the inter fans, and they went nuts. |

Ya, 5 years for english teams, 10 for liverpool, which was dropped to 7 later on. It just makes no sense to me to punish fans OUTSIDE the stadium, I mean what could liverpool do to stop them. If they are in the stadium they can do somethign to stop crazy fans. Just kinda interesting that fans were still able to sneak in flares and other things for the game. Reminds me of what a friend who grew up in turkey told me, they can't bring thigns into the stadium(cause they will throw them). So people outside the stadium would sell old 1980's cell phones that didn't work. So you buy one for 5$, take it apart and toss parts on the field. mostly the battery and the rest of the phone. Sad but funny. |
