Question How many hours of tv do you record/watch in a night?

I, for example, am recording 9 hours of tv tonight. Sure, I could watch some of them as they air, but with Josh, I like to keep that kind of tv off until after he goes to bed or school. If we are home, he'll watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition with me (or I can watch it even if he's around, since it is safe.). But other than that, the rest is too old for him.

My busiest night is Tuesday when I have 5 shows on at one time (from 8-9 CST). But now my problem is solved.

When our electronics got fried, my ReplayTV (tivo-like thing) went poof. So I've been down a recording device and it's putting a crimp in some of my nights. One of our digital cable boxes poof'd too, (we had 1 reg. dig. cable box & 1 dvr dig. cable box), so I decided to just get a 2nd dvr box instead of a regular dig. cable box. So I'm dropping the $10/mth for the Replay, which can only record 1 at a time and spending an extra $5/mth (it's $15 or so more than I'm paying now to the cable co. to get the dvr rather than regular box) to get a 2nd dvr (which records 2 at a time).

So I'm all hooked up and it rocks. Thanks to Scott! You'd probably die if you saw all the cables back there but it works and it looks ok from the front so...

So anyway, that begs the question, how many hours of tv do you record/watch in an average night?

Oh, and before people start bitching about how much tv I watch... Since I work at home, I tend to watch tv while I work. So that's how I can watch so much.

On weeknights? My tv is usually on from 6-1am, just because I live alone and I like background noise.

But my tivo is recording in the daytime as well.

on average, i don't watch any tv.

but if there are sports on, then i might watch 2-4 hours.

or if i'm with a friend, i might watch something.

i think if i had tivo, i would watch a lot more, because then i could see the shows i want when i want to see them.

depends on what day of the week it is, but if i average it out, i'd say somewhere between 2 and 2.5 hours, if i've got nothing else to do.

it goes up a little bit during NBA season when basketball games replace some of the shows i watcg, and it goes waaay up during NBA playoffs. i watched basketball from noon to 10:30 last saturday...

I watch about 30 mins to an hour a day. NBA playoffs screws that up, because i'll just leave that on and watch while I do other stuff.

I watch from about 6pm to 1am but I leave my tv on after 1am to 8am just for the background noise and I wake up when the news comes on. I can't sleep when it's too quiet...a have a small fear of the dark and my mind gets carried away.

During the week I watch very little tv. And no shows in particular - typically whatever History, Discovery or VH1 has to offer. Just a little something to wind down before bed.

I like to download episodes of Smallville, Desperate Housewives, and Enterprise. I sometimes catch up on them on the weekends. Unless I'm watching Best Week Ever.

If the Yankees are on I'll try and catch the game.

I barely ever watch TV, no time. Movies are more likely. Meh, I'll just catch up on my favorite shows when they go to DVD.

Right now, I have finished all the work for school and have a couple months off before I have to start residency and I'm sick so I can't leave the house so I'm watching about 15 hours of television/day. Once I get healthy again, I'll probably wean myself down to 10 or so.

I usually tape about 1 show per night. I have certain shows that i tape everyday so i have the latest episode and can just put it on when i feel like watching. PTI, Daily Show, Southpark, ATHF. I always have at least one episode of those. show like the daily show i tape in the morning while i am at work so i am a day behind but its not a big deal.

Tape a few shows a week, OC, 24, Family Guy, American Dad, Battelstar, Nip Tuck... etc

I don't know what i would do without my replaytv heh, especially since some certain sites are no longer around
