This is so disappointing. I can't believe this is happening. Someone who has the chance to be great has done this. I guess the pressure of getting to the mark got him to use it.

If true, it's gonna put a serious dent in his 3,000/500 club merits. I'll wait until the full story has been revealed, though. He seems like a decent enough guy...

This doesn't really sound believable:

I wish there were a way for the banned substance to be named...but I know the player's association would probably never go for that.

I mean, I'd view it as a pretty huge difference between using an anabolic steroid or something that you could buy over the counter at GMC that happens to be not allowed.

I do suppose that a banned substance is still a banned substance, regardless of which one it was, and it really is a shame that he's done this, on accident or not.

It's unfortunate. But I suppose this also means that the policy is kind of working. Personally I don't believe his excuses one bit and that's really sad because he's someone I really have respected for a long time - flying under the radar, consistently producing, and seemingly a good guy.

well it is a steroid he took, not another unnamed stubstance from gnc. baseball has produced a list of about 45 steroids it tests for(ok not HGH which is listed, but ot tested for). The problem is, what stubstances at gnc, might casue a positive steroid test. do the players know what they should take or what they shouldn;t. I have to believe that they do. I hope they arn't making "mikshakes" without knowing what it contains. That is such a bs response.

Ben Johnson was caught with this in the 1988 Olympics. This steroid is one of the easiest to detect.
