Nick Lachey Reveals Split Details

NICK LACHEY lived most of his married life to JESSICA SIMPSON in the public eye and on camera. But ever since the announcement last Fall of his break-up with the pop star, he's kept mum. Now, the music-maker is speaking out on the headline-making split.

"I'll tell you how I knew my marriage was over -- I was told," he candidly says in the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone (www.rollingstone.com), on stands Friday.

It was on November 22, 2005, on their way home from the American Music Awards, that Nick says Jessica informed him that she was leaving him, something he admits shocked him. "I never wanted a divorce," he says in the revealing article. "I wanted us to be happy. I guess we differed on strategy."

Nick says after she expressed she wanted a divorce, he asked her to not make any rash decisions. "I basically said, 'Please, let's sleep on it.' But when we woke up the next day, Wednesday morning, she was still sure."

The 31-year-old even broke down in tears throughout the interview, telling the magazine, "I'd marry her all over again because I still love her. It would be a lot easier to walk away if I didn't."

Nick even addressed the reports that they split because Jessica was allegedly unfaithful. "I don't know if there were other men," he admits. "But if she did cheat, it was the result of something bigger, not the reason we didn't work out."

He confesses that he thinks it may have been easier if he had "found her in bed with a guy." "That would be clear cut," he says. "End of story. I wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of adultery."

And he also dispels any rumors that Jessica's manager/father JOE had anything to do with their separation.

"It would be easy for me to blame my divorce on him," he says. "That would be convenient. But at the end of the day, Jessica is a grown woman and she made her own decision."

Yeah, as a guy, that won't do much for your confidence.

i really feel for the guy. And quite honestly i'm shocked at how rational he is when it comes to rumors and other actions surrounding jessica. It sucks to plan the rest of your life around one person and have that idea shreaded to bits.

I feel bad for the guy too. He's still doing OK, though. Rumors are that he's dating a former Miss Kentucky. Anyone think he traded up?

If that person is anyone other than yourself, it's almost guaranteed to be shredded.

I'd have to say so. Miss KY looks pretty good from those pics. Jessica, while attractive, isn't really my type. There's just something about her face - I'm not really sure. But her sister can look very attractive at times.

I seriously thought they were going to make it. I mean, Jessica should be so lucky. He waited for her when she was a virgin. She broke his heart once. Then got back together right after 9/11. Got married. He put up with all her spending and whining. And now she breaks his heart again. He perfectly made it clear to Jessica that he does not want spousal support. If I were Nick, I wouldn't take her back. She doesn't know what she wants. Now she wants to adopt? Nick deserves someone better. Jessica's been married to her Papa Joe this whole time.

Team Nick.

Nick has been really mature on the issue and seems to really be focused on moving on although it was something he didnt plan for.
