Offical NFL Draft Thread

Official rather ;(

Wow Reggie Bush falls to #2 in the Draft. The Texas went with Mario Williams a DE. New Orleans just picked up Bush #2. WOW.

I've Heard that Bush wanted TOO much money otherwise the Texans would have signed him. I'm shocked.

WOW the Titans just picked up Vince Young #3. I would have gone with Matt seeing as how they have Chow.... oh well.

The Jet's said screw a QB I guess like like Chad and Patrick..... they picked up OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson

And the Leinart freefall continues...

What a fool. He was the consensus #1 pick if he had come out last year. Why go back to school and risk losing all that $$$?

Raiders taking Huff at #7 was a bit of a surprise. No trade at this point either; that's another one.

Actually apparently the Texans offered a larger contract to Mario Williams than to Bush.

I hate the Texans now.

Cardinals finally end the drop, take Leinart. With some of their weapons, he'll be a good fit.

Williams was a better pick than Bush would have been. It's much, much harder to find impact DE's than it is RB's. If they project Williams to be as good as a guy like Peppers, than by all means they made the right pick.

I don't understand the Whitner and Sims picks. Seems like those guys may have been available lower, so a trade down (if possible) would have made sense.

Niners picked up another TE. Hopefully he is the weapon or another weapon for our struggling offense

Yeah, it was because Matt didn't want to play for the Niners. that's why he went back to SC. Plus he wanted a third championship, if they had won the Rose Bowl everything would have been different

Plus he wanted to be able to bone a different hot campus chick every weekend. So, yeah. There's that.

Houston needs to beef up its D thus Mario's pick. Hopefully the new TE will help my Niners with Alex Smith at QB.

While it makes sense, it's sort of sad that Leinart was taken tenth overall. Oh well. Arizona lucked out by getting him, I think. Bush to NOLA is fun too, I thought he'd go first but when Houston announced they'd choose Mario Williams yesterday, there was no suspense.

I was very surprised that HOU passed up on Bush. That was a mistake. A def head scratcher.

So far the Steelers have drafted a WR, a S, and a return specialist.

I am surprised how many NCST players were drafted in the first round after their team went 6-5. I have to scratch my head at that.

Well, we have him now. I just hope the Saints stay in NOLA for a few more years or forever. Benson is always demanding a new retractable roof stadium, etc., to replace their training facilities here and the Superdome. I say he should bail out while he's making mucho $$, especially post-Katrina, or live with playing in LSU's Tiger Stadium for a while. There was even talk of a conglomerate of people, including local Terry Bradshaw, to buy the franchise from Benson. It just wouldn't make sense for the Saints to be anywhere but here.

Ah well, all I know is that there will be a good number of Bruins here in So Cal happy to see him go. Haha.

Bush didn't seem to happy to be going to the Saints. I wouldn't be happy either. Who wants to play in that hellhole of a dome?

I'm still puzzled over the Chargers taking a QB in the 3rd round. Seems like they could've waited a few more rounds if all they wanted was a 3rd stringer to sit on the bench.

I love Bush and Leinart but they went to some teams that I really can't stand

Texans could (should) have traded down 2 or 3 picks and still got williams+ future draft picks, etc. It shows short sightedness when a team doesn't draft the favorites and doesn't trade down imo. This may end up like drafting bowie over Jordan, but with more head notice.

Raiders shot themselves in the foot again. They needed Leinart for Moss if no other reason. Good for Idiot Davis! I love watching him fail year in and year out. The NFL better get L.A. a team soon or risk losing more Los Angeles area fans to the Traiders or Diego, etc. I believe Matts former receiver, Mike William is also at Arizona.

Lendale White is worth a gamble imo and he told the press... "I have a 40-team chip on my shoulder, and somebody's going to pay."

Did the Lions trade Mike Williams to the Cardinals? or did the Lions dump him? Last I checked Mike Williams was a Lion.

Funny thing is... why did L.A. let the Rams go to St. Louis back in the first place?

The Raiders belonged in Oakland, but yall slept on the Rams and they left town... now you crying about getting a team back. What's up with that?

(BTW... even if the Colts remotely talk about leaving Indy, all kinds of concessions come down to keep them here. And right now, they are getting a BRAND new stadium built for them courtesy of an additional food, beverage, and hotel tax passed in the city.)

Matt Leinart does not an arm strength to throw to Moss when he goes deep.

The Rams were in discussion to leave for a little while. The city didn't care because we had the traiders and the Rams sucked. Al Davis was looking to return to Oakland and waited for the Rams to leave before announcing/finalizing the move back. If he would have made his intentions known earlier, the Rams would probably still be here.
It's ok though, the USC Trojans have more than made up for the absence of pro football imo. The NFL is the one who is losing money by not setting up a franchise here.

Matt is better than all of their current options and worth the gamble. That pick would have shown Moss that were trying to get him a QB and if it panned out.... Also, why would they make the same mistake they made by signing Rob Woodson? He was the best and didn't help them win. So how is this kid going to do anything to help them win?

Low scoring offense and no D = the Al's ongoing commitment to failure.

I see...

Imagine what would happen if the Lakers ever left town and went back to Minneapolis... and then the Clippers left shortly thereafter.

Man, there would be ABSOLUTE SHOCK in Hollywood.

I'm still hoping that the Clippers move to Anahiem and play at the pond. That would own.

I'm glad the Niners picked up who they did, but they still need an o line. Otherwise Alex Smith is in for a rude second season.

So, what is everyone's take on their team's drafts???

My take - I am fairly happy with the Steelers' draft choices. I think they possibly filled 2 needs - WR and S. They also got a great KR/PR specialist and a young QB that needs some work. The only thing I wish they would have done is traded some of their picks away to move up in the 3rd or to have a 2nd rd pick. I was happy with the trade up in the 1st to snag Santonio Holmes, though.

Nah. Some rich guy in OC would buy up the Clippers or Lakers and make them the Los Angeles ____ of Orange County.

Back on the thread, a couple of the teams I follow seem to have done well in the draft. Time will tell of course.

The Packers and sometimes the Rams. (Though I haven’t really followed the Rams much since they dumped Warner.)

For the Packers I liked Hawk. He was a Lombardi Award winner and tackled just about everything at Ohio State. They also got another good LB in the 3rd round, Abdul Hodge

For the Rams did OK in the first two rounds, but they need so much help that Tye Hill at CB and Joe Klopfenstein at TE aren’t going to turn them around. Hoping for more talent in the later rounds. I’ll have to study up on those and see how they did.
