Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondent's Dinner

Roasting the President . . . kind of like the Friar's Club roasts . . . very entertaining . . .

In 3 parts . . .

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Super funny . . . Colbert Report is great . . . glad he got the WHCA gig

Heh...that was nice. Loved Helen Thomas in that one. Very cool of her to play along.

That guy is really funny. I am amazed that he said those things while Bush was sitting there.

That's the great thing about democracy.

Did you guys see the one where Bush is at the podium with an impersontor. That one was a real riot.

I like the stop loss gap applying to the generals and forcing them not to retire as an idea joke. I stop watching after the parking lot escape scene.

Hasn't this pretty much been SOP for the White House Correspondents Dinner for ages: to make fun on the president and the administration? Seems like Bush did a better job of making fun of himself than Colbert. But Colbert certainly had a few good ones.

Yes and no . . . the White House Correspondents' Dinner is an annual event and it always features some roasting of the Pres and the Press. However, YouTube is quite new, so being able to watch the proceedings on-demand is rather new and entertaining. Also, if you believe the Drudge Report, this year's roast was a little more anti-Pres than usual . . . but I guess it's all in how you view things.

That was even better than John Stewart on Crossfire! Absolutely courageous, imho. This event is generally a disgusting display of faux self deprecation, all with a wink and a nudge as the press slap themselves on the back. Colbert went right into the lion's den and skewered everybody. The president, his staff, and the mainstream media. No one was spared, and no one was happy (a LOT of nervous laughter out there and stunned looks).

I don't know how he was able to look Bush dead in the eyes as he went on with his torching. That took some real balls. Colbert is my new hero!
