401k rollovers
here it says http://www.moneysavingfreetips.com/401k-rollover.html " If you create a separate IRA for your rollover and if your existing company allows this, you can move your IRA into a new employer's IRA sponsored program (thats if you change jobs)."
how exactly is this done? what are the steps? is there any credit checks involved? |

I'm pretty sure all you do is contact the "manager" of the new company IRA, tell them what you want done, and they do it for you...they arrange for the transfer. I've moved things between 401K and IRA, etc., and they took care of it for me. |

like itsme said:your current company's (in most cases HR) usually has info on this. Some companies only allow certain rollovers, so just ask first. They will provide you the steps to take, the forms you need to fill out and submit back to them, what forms you need to get from your former employer, and to whom the rollover check is going to be named to (so you dont get taxed). no credit checks are involved at all.

When I rolled over my previous 401k I just called them up and asked if I could roll it over into my new 401k and they sent me a form to fill out and then sent me a check with the new companys name on it which I had to mail in to my new 401k company. It was really easy.
