The loose lending of the subprime market caused too much money to be flowing in the financial markets and as things go the other way, there is always a tendency to cut back too much on lending. It will eventually finds its way to a more "natural" level, but could take some time. How much of an over- correction will occur? Difficult to say. Pumping in extra money to increase liquidity could lead to higher inflation.

While the article was interesting and a bit end-of-the-world inflammatory, the real gems are the huge numbers of comments at the end. There's a LOT of ron paul spam (yet another reason for me not to vote for him), but some of the comments are pure comedy gold.

Well that's why I own gold stocks right now. Inflation is certainly a possibility with dropping interest rates and a flush of cash.
