Online Trading - Who to use?

Hey all,
I am looking to get into the trading game and was wondering where everyone does their online trading (E-trade, ameritrade, etc.) If anyone has had any good or bad experiences, I would appreciate thte input. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to pick one I would like those to.

I dont plan on jumping right in. I want to learn a lot more before I get started. Any suggestions on any good reading for a beginner would also be nice whether they are websites, magazines, etc. Just FYI, I would like to get started more for entertainment purposes than financial reasons. I am just hoping my money lasts longer than it would in Vegas.

Scottrade - cheap ... not bad.. but they charge you fee's to take out money (on transaction not %)

i use
Online: yahoo financial, msn to read my info's
magazine : business week (cn, tw, us), forbes, Kiplingers (FREE!!! thank you got apex)
La Times (mine), Wallstreet (roommates)

i read these for entertainment value also.... sorta like updating myself with current events... T.V just broadcasts the same crap over and over again throughout the whole day.

I just looked at Scottrade and it looks pretty good. I couldnt find anything on their site about fees to take money out. Anyone know about those fees (like how much)?

Also, besides the commisions on the transactions, are there any other fees/charges I should be aware of when I am trying to choose a trading service?

I know when I had an account with Ameritrade they started charging a quarterly maintenance fee on my account. Not sure if you have to keep your assests above a minimum to forgo this charge or what, but I closed my account there because of that.

The research material they supply is about the same from service to service.

I am very happy with Firstrade.com

I have been using them for 4 years now. They are underwritten by FleetFinancial, so they won't be going anywhere for a while.
