freetrade.com

anyone tried out freetrade.com?

supposedly, you get 20 commission-free stock trades a month. It's affiliated with Ameritrade. if you have tried it out, any opinions?

I've used them for a couple of years. There's no 'catch', but you get what you pay for. They keep costs down by not advertising, by piggybacking on Ameritrade's infrastructure, by automating heavily, and by minimizing support costs: No phone support, no snailmail. Everything is done by email, web, automated phone system or wire.
That said, I've found their email tech support to be quick and professional when I've needed it -- typically problem resolved within an hour. They don't make the email support address easy to find, however. You have to hunt around the website awhile. Not surprising given their business model -- they need to minimize time wasted handholding d00fs.
