Hmm Charlton Athletic shares???

I don't usually dabble in the stock market but am consodering buying shares in Charlton Athletic (the team I support).
according to this site the shares cost about 30p each. Yet this site is selling them for £29.95 each. Could someone please explain to me as to how this can be right?

Well, it says 29.67p now. Answer: Stock prices fluctuate with supply and demand but the store decided to sell them at a fixed price (because it's easier I imagine).

30p and 29.95 pounds is 100 times the diff. It's probably because the store is selling it as a "gift kit" rather than for the value of the stock itself. All the stuff that comes with the stock - instructions, etc - is the cause for the markup. If you went and got a broker, you could get stocks at the market value - currently around 30 pence - plus commission.

The gift kit includes a suckers markup. If you want the shares you can simply buy them on the open market for 29p.

Looking at some of the numbers I would advise you to buy them as a fun item to enjoy a greater connection with the team. As an investment....well there are lots of choices.
