Opening a Bank Account Online
I was wondering if its safe to open a bank account online?
I.E: Like Washington Mutual how you can apply online for the Free Checking. I was wondering if its safe.

I opened an ING account 8 months ago and I have no problem whatsoever so it's safe.

I have opened multiple Washinton Mutual accounts online. No problems here. If it does bother you though, you could just hop into a local branch early on a saturday morning and spend the 30 minutes opening the account there.

my thing is cause your giving your social. over the internet to register for wamu. so from what i hear from you folks...its perfectly safe?

At ING you can do it all over the phone as well if you don't like using the net. That is about as safe as going into the branch. I also opened mine online with ING and have not had an issue. I have done this with local banks as well when I needed to open another account.
