we're talking retail MANAGEMENT, right? not regular employees, correct?

Then go with walmart. i know, its weird to suggest it, but i kid you not.

i know theyre the retail equivalent of benign evil, and their regular hourly employees are paid diddly-squat, and quite frankly are paid less than compararable retail stores.

but the management positions are paid OBSCENELY well more than what the industry pays for the same level of positions.

By management i mean when you go become STORE MANAGER, or DISTRICT MANAGER, or REGIONAL MGR. anything SALARIED past co-manager and assistant manager level. It doesnt have to be related to managing stores, just any corporate level management position, or anything close to HOME OFFICE (downside is you'll have to work or report to bentonville, arkansas often).
i know this because i worked for the company for 8 years before i quit and moved to something better for me.
You get full benefits, travel paid for, company car, company credit card, HUGE bonuses (most of the time MORE than the annual salary itself!), 401(k), special grants, profit sharing. im telling you, people who get there stay there because they get paid so much money.
i for one despise retail now, so i didnt go into any of their corproate programs. plus i found something better for me.
********************************

Ok, if you truly despise walmart like i do, go for Ikea. Not only do they provide full benefits and a healthy compensation, but theyre something you'll be proud to work for. Thats always a plus for me.

Stay the hell away from retail grocery. Regardless of what the pay/benefits are, the company will own your soul.
