WTB: cable modem

Anyone have a cable modem lying about that they're willing to part with? I'm hoping to get a Motorola SB5101 or SB5100.

My old 4100 is begging to be retired. Hoping to get one for about $30 shipped to MI - or I have some goodies to trade (desktop RAM, laptop RAM, laptop HD, some other assorted hardware)

I have a DSL modem. It's a Westell Wirespeed and standard issue from Verizon DSL.

I only need a cable modem, but thanks for checking.

(I actually have one of those Westells already!)

I have one and it's a Motorola but I don't know what model. I have to find it though. Hopefully I didn't throw it out.

Thanks, but my 4100 is working ok, but 1) like an idiot I'm still renting it from Comcast & want to return it, and 2) I want something DOCSIS 2.0 - rumor is there's another speed increasing coming (16Mb??!!?) and I want to be ready.

Thanks - everyone please keep the offers coming, and maybe I'll see something I like.

Wow! That would be sweet! I imagine that the new modem Comcast swapped in (when I went from their "Digital Phone" to their "Digital Voice") is DOCSIS 2.0.

/me runs off to dslreports to read the latest Comcast rumors.

[edit]...where I found the following posted from someone who claims to be in Comcast tech support:
Quote:
the actual speeds after the benefit are 16mbs DOWNLOAD and 1.5 UPLOAD these new speeds were the same for both the standard(6mb, 768mb)and the upgraded (8mb)accounts. this will probably change in order to benefit the upgraded customers.
All this for no extra cost....
SWEEEEEEEEET!!!

Well I bit the bullet and bought one on flea bay and it was a reasonable price...works wonders with my 10/1 cable speed that I just got a few days ago... I'm loving the new speed, and 16/1.5 would be mindblowing! It definitely paid for itself after owning instead of renting.

Whoooaaa - this is way crazy. I just switched from an older (SMC) router to a newer one (US Robotics MAXg) that I had picked up (in case the SMC would be a bottleneck - it's pretty old, and I've seen older routers run much slower). I had been getting the expected 6Mbps download speed that Comcast talks about. I also noticed that my cable/telephony modem (Comcast provided Arris brand) says it's only DOCSIS 1.1. But after I installed the new router (and did some resets on my cable modem), I'm pulling off Usenet at a rate of about 20 Mbps! Why I'm getting this speed I have no idea, but I'm sure not complaining! (Browser speed tests still show the typical 6Mbps speeds.)
