My little bro might be selling his old aopen board. Here is a link for it

http://www.aopen.com/products/mb/ax59pro.htm

It has the 1mb secondary cache. Not sure what he would want for it. He just replaced it and his amd 400 k6-2 with a 900 duron. The board works as of about three weeks ago. Aopen says it supports the k6-2 450 but not the k6-2+ 450. Let me know how much your willing to spend if interested and I'll check with him.

I'll have to check with him over the weekend and let you know. I checked the $39 board you mentioned and it is a micro atx board and

I quote "Please note this motherboard was designed for Acer cases but will fit perfectly fine with a little bending of sheetmetal. This is a VERY EASY modification."

Of course If it works for what your wanting thats your call.

Sorry about not getting back with you yet. I haven't been able to reach my bro yet. I know he was trying to sell it to a friend of his for like $50, but that may be more than you would want to spend. If you have an idea on what you would give let me know and I'll check with him.

Don't really blame you. It's gotten to the point where there isn't much of a demand on used pc parts because everything has gotten so much cheaper and there is so much competition. You can even find socket 370 boards for 39 or even less by looking around and they have more features than socket seven boards. I am guessing he will end up keeping the board and just use old parts to have an extra pc. Even since he upgraded to a 900 duron the prices had dropped almost $20 in a month. I thought about upgrading my dads ibm piii450 to an 800, but that cpu would cost more than buying a new mobo and a duron 800! Good luck to you.

I have a board for you. I have a now-unused machine cluttering up my study and it has a Soyo motherboard, I think an SY-5EMA (http://www.soyousa.com/sy5ema.html) but I'll have to check the particulars this evening. It is a full ATX board and works fine - I had the machine on just a couple weeks ago. How about $30 plus shiping? I'll even toss in the old cyrix chip I was running :-)

Turns out I was wrong about the model of the board. It is a Soyo SY-5ED5M (http://www.soyousa.com/sy5edm.html). There's a more recent bios that supports:

ATAPI 2 ZIP Drives. Support for the AMD K6-2/366 (66 x 5.5), Cyrix M-II/366 (75 x 4), IDT Winchip-2A/233 (66 x 3.5), 240 (60 x 4) and Rise mP6-PR266 (66 x 3), PR 233 (75 x 2.5)

I think I flashed the board to this, but I don't remember for sure.

Still interested?

If someone is interested in the whole thing (Inwin A500 case, Adaptec 1535 SCSI, Ensoniq PCI audio, STB PCI video, Netgear 10/100 Ethernet), email me. It was a decent machine for its time, and had I not wanted a faster machine my wife would probably be happily using it even now.

I have a PCChips (I think - just think of it as generic) w/ onboard video and audio if I don't remember wrong. Been working fine even now. $25 if anyone is interested.
