Cool

I am selling a brand new Rockford Fosgate G250A2 Car ampilifer.

The reason I got the amp was to mate it with the brand new JL audio stealtbox that I was going to have installed to my car. What neither I nor my stereo store realized was that due to the size of my small trunk they had to put a old sub into the box. For those of you who know about JL subs, it was the W6. This sub requires a mono amp. DOH!! So I bought another mono amp and now I have this extra amp.

I hate doing Egay so before i go that route I wanted to see if anyone at good ole gotpex was in need of a amp.

Currently the amp goes for around $210 on various web sites. I am asking for $150 plus the actual cost of the shipping and handling.

You can find the specs for the amp here:
http://www.caraudio.udm.net/Amplifiers/rockford/G250A2/

If you are interested or have any questions please let me know.

The sub that is in the stealthbox needs impedence load of 3 ohms. The amp put out either 2 or 4 ohms. Unlike most new subs that will take either 2 or 4 the sub I have is old. Hence only a mono amp will work for it. :-(
I guess that's the price I gotta pay for having a mustang convertible instead of the coupe.

Here is my sub: http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthboxes/...g_convert.html

If you look in there it says that it is wired for 3 ohm mono. Again DOH

Thumbs up

Hi, first post here. My friend told me about this thread cuz I'm looking for an amp that puts out around 250 watts, but instead I thought I'd just let you know that your stereo shop is trying to confuse you.

Your amp is 2 ohm stable, which means it can take any load down to 2 ohm mono, 1 ohm stereo. So, you can put a mono load of 2-infinity ohms on your amp.

Your sub is a W6, w/ 2 6 ohm voicecoils, so it can be wired to a 3 ohm load (parallel the voicecoils), or 12 ohm load (series the voicecoils).

So, w/ a 2 ohm stable amp, and a sub wired to 3 ohms... 2 < 3 so your amp CAN handle it. just bridge the two channels to the sub and you're good to go.

Well, if you're still not a believer, I have a JL Audio 15W6, the 15" of whatever size you have, and I have it hooked up to a Phoenix Gold XS2500. Basically same type of amp your Rockford is, but puts out 500 watts.

Well... I think you need to find a new stereo shop, and if you print this out to show them, they're gonna lie to your face to save their face cuz anyone who knows stereos knows the basics to wiring up speakers

Oh, a problem w/ running Rockford amps below 4 ohm mono. It voids the warranty. They say not to run the amps at anything below 4 ohm mono, but the majority of people I've seen running those amps run them at 2 ohm mono because those amps are actually pretty comfortable at that load. Rockford says not to, but the amps can easily handle the load. Maybe that's what your stereo shop meant, but the terminology and specifics they gave you are totally messed up.

Nevertheless, good luck selling the sub!

Macross - Thanks for the info.

I think you are right about the amp and sub. I think the shop was going to wire it w/ a 4 ohm bridge and did not tell me that I could go down to the 2ohm to make it work. I guess they did not want to void the warranty. I wish they would of have f#*king told me!!!
I purchased a mono amp just to get that sub to work and now I know that my original amp would of worked fine. I guess this teaches me to do some research and not to do a impulse buy.

I am kind of new to the car audio area so I did not know. Man I feel cheated.

To those that are interested in the amp. I really hate messing w/ egay so make me a offer I might take it.

sub, amp, what's the difference :p

Well, as long as the new setup sounds great, it's all good!

Careful, don't get too much into car audio cuz it tends to strain the wallet REALLY fast
