Officemax and Officedepot frequently have modular furnature systems for great prices. My desk from Officemax weighed over 300 pounds, and they shipped it for free...I love that.

Three monitor!!!

If you are going three CRT's, I think you would want to go custom...not sure if that fiber board composite construction crap is gonna hold the weight... Let's see, my how much would three 21"CRT's weigh???

I am looking at computer armoires. They are nice in that I will be able to conceal my mess when guests are over. It will also offer lots of surfaces for stuff like printers, cds, phones, speakers, scanners.

Has anyone else gone this way? What is your opinion?

For $2500.00 I think I could build a sweet desk. I have no experiance but I have seen some wood for cheap at Home Depot. A search on google brought up this,

For $2500.00 they have to be able to do something nice for you. They don't seem to have any prices though, but worth a call.

I want to build myself my own desk now

I bought a serious 6' long solid-oak computer desk with hutch and file drawers for $700 delivered. It is even angled for a corner and that accomodates my 21" monitor quite well. If you are looking for a good desk I would recommend you look at different furniture stores that buy from furniture manufacturers on a as-ordered basis. It will take a few weeks while your desk is made, but in the end it will be what you want.
