Sold! HP P4 3Ghz/512MB/GeForce128mb Laptop

Hi there,

I'm selling my used HP Pavilion zd7000 laptop. It has P4 3.0Ghz, 512MB memory, 40GB of hard drive, GeForce 5600 128MB, wifi 802.11b/g, CDRW/DVD, firewire, 4 USB 2.0 port, and many more features for $1100 shipped with insurance. This is a great desktop replacement and also good for gaming. You don't find many laptop with a stand-along video card of 128MB these days. There is no cosmetic damage and the unit itself is working great. I will ship this unit inside the retail box and everything that came with it at the beginning. The reason for selling this laptop is I'm getting a replacement soon and no longer need this. I accept payment in money order, cashier check, and personal check. You can check my eBay feedback under the name of "gsrickvon" or under heatware. If you have any question, please don't be hesitated to ask me. My email address is lsportline@yahoo.com. Thank you for looking.

Just FYI, I don't know when the last time you used PayPal, but they are charging 2.9% for ANY transaction. I'm assuming you asked for bank transfers through PayPal because of that, and that is what I thought until I just sold a $900 item recently.

I don't recall that paypal charges any fee to me before if the transaction is done via bank account. Unless of course, they changed their policy. Last time I used Paypal (last month), I got the total amount just fine. Thanks though, I will take a look of their policy now.

Question

The charge comes out of the $ from the payer. This would short the payee by about 3%.
I know I use paypal a lot and they always charge me about 3% when I pay anyone.
If the payee demands the full amount for the sale, the payer would have to increase the amount paid to paypal by the 3% margin.
This sucks because if you have a 30 day refund policy, the payer will loose the 3%, paypal keeps thier percentage even if the transaction is voided out at any time within the first 30days after the sale date.
I sold a X800 XT PE video card to a customer. By the time this customer decided to buy from me, my supplier had sold out of that item.
Even after I explained to my customer about needing to know about the sale NOW. She still took about 3 days before she paid me through paypal.
I refunded the total amount to the customer due to the fact that no XTPE cards were available and no definate date of the availability of the card.
I lost over $20 when I refunded the $ back to the customer.
PayPal stated since it was not within thier control, they had no policy of giving up thier % to handle the money.

If you got it all last month there must have been a mistake. If you look through their recent policy changes, they changed it somewhere around mid to late summer.

Changes to PayPal Pricing Tiers for U.S. Sellers

Notice Date: June 15, 2004
Effective Date: August 6, 2004
Beginning August 6, 2004, PayPal will revise its fee structure in order to make PayPal more cost-effective for U.S. sellers of various sizes.

Under the new performance-based fee structure, regardless of the currency of payment, the standard rate for U.S. domestic transactions will remain at 2.9%, while the merchant rate will be expanded to three tiers, 2.5%, 2.2%, and 1.9% depending on the seller's monthly transaction volume and a one-time successful application. The effective standard rate for cross-border transactions, regardless of currency, will remain at 3.9%, while the merchant rate tiers will be 3.5%, 3.2% and 2.9%. The fixed fee for both domestic and cross-border transactions will be $0.30 USD, $0.55 CAD, £0.20 GBP, €0.35 EUR or ¥40 JPY (depending on the currency of the transaction).

U.S. accounts that are already receiving the current merchant rate as of June 15, 2004 will continue (through August 6, 2005) to be charged no more than 2.2% plus the fixed fee for domestic transactions and 3.2% plus the fixed fee for cross-border transactions, regardless of transaction volume. Otherwise, each seller's tier will be subject to adjustment at the beginning of each month based on the seller's transaction volume in the previous calendar month. To find out more about the new performance-based fee structure and the monthly volumes needed to qualify for each of the merchant rate tiers, see a preview of new U.S. Domestic Fees and U.S. Cross-Border Fees.

Someone just paid me with an eCheck last week and they still took out their 2.9%. I was definitely pissed. When selling something on eBay now, you have to pay about 8-10% of your final value between all the fees racked up in the process.

bump with new lower price from $1150 shipped to $1100 shipped. I also accept reasonable offer. Asking for $500 shipped is certainly not one of them.

501 shipped? Just kidding....

About PayPal....I just had someone tell me earlier this week that you can avoid the 2.9% if you have an account that has never accepted a credit card payment. After that first CC payment, all transactions are subject to the fee. I don't know for sure, so take it for what it's worth...
