I really genuinely enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII - critics say it had a crappy storyline, but I fell in love with it. It's one of the first times I've felt in a game the same feeling that I get when I read a book or see a movie. People say that IX will be much better, and that would truly be an amazing accomplishment.

Hmm... strange. I loved FF7, probably because of the CG cut scenes, but I could not get into FF8. Maybe it was the whole drawing magic thing. The card game was fun, though. I still have to beat Chrono Cross. I hope the PS2 will make it look a little better.

I have nothing against ff9...I just don't like games that have a million secrets and takes about a quarter of your life to complete...I don't have that kind of patience =)

Those million secrets make the game all the more fun!! You can never get tired of playing it because you still have secrets to find. I enjoyed Final Fantasy VII also. I just liked VIII better just because of the GFs. I thought they were awsome. I also liked the card game very much. I have alomost actually got all of the cards in the game. I actually beat the card queen!
