I played a bit of StarCraft the other day. We were looking for something all of our friends can play, and some of them for some reason have some Legacy computers

Can't wait for the new one. It looks pretty sweet.

This looks very cool.
Must resist.
I spent way too much time on the first one.

Well no one can seem to get the Koreans to stop playing StarCraft 1 , so maybe this will do the trick! 24/7 Channel is probably already being set up for playing of StarCraft II.

seeing as its not a "MMORPG" I don't think it will necessarily BREAK them away. They will go play a game or two, then go back. And go back and forth. If it were WoS, totally different ball of wax.

As for me, I broke mainly away from WoW and play LOTRO right now.

WoW is always there if you want to go back, like a Motel 6.

Interesting. Blizzard has a very very very high bar set for them. I'm not a fan of Starcraft in the least, but I do know that the game is ridiculously popular and Blizzard has an insane amount of expectations to live up to.

Here's hoping they can pull it off =)

Well seeing as how they have had Success After Success, it's a good bet.

And since they made the first one......

Me too.

I'm going to try really hard to NOT play this (only because my self-discipline sucks). I was going to get a new computer in a year or two, but I may just wait another 4-5 years so that I won't be able to play this game =). I'm getting too old for vid games anyways

I watched a video clip of these two korean teens going head-to-head in starcraft and I was amazed at what a big event this was. There were fans cheering, indepth bios on the players, all these ridiculous endoresments, etc. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. I can understand vid games as leisure fun, but not the blown-up competitive event that it is in Korea.

Well, a big part of the "Success After Success" is Blizzard's insane fan population. Which isn't bad, it's very good for them. There are many people who will buy anything Blizzard puts out. The entirety of Korea comes up =) Many people will also overlook faults of a Blizzard game because of the Blizzard name.

I don't doubt that SC2 will be a good game, my concern is that if you're known to 22 carat blocks of gold, and one day you come out with an 18 carat block of gold .. it will be noticed. Or not? Who knows?

Anyway, I'll reserve my excitement until I get my hands on some gameplay. The RTS genre has been pretty stagnant over the last number of years, and they'll really have to come through for this to be a (massive) success. Or not? Who knows =) Never underestimate the power of Korea =)

*shrugs*
