Guitar Hero: World Tour

I just got Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Wii on Saturday at Gamestop since I had a $42 credit and played it last night. I had some issues because 1) I'm idiot and put the orange cymbal in wrong and 2) didn't realize the mic doesn't work without starting up another remote. In my defense there's no freaking instructions on how to get the mic to work.

I like the drums layout better than Rockband. The guitar is nicer than GH:III in my opinion. They added a star power button which I personally though was great at first but in practice was hard to activate. The whammy bar on my guitar was kinda of loose so when I tried to use it I had to rotate it in position. I think the mic should have been wireless!! A USB modeule for it would have done the trick I thought.

The music list is ok since I don't recognize most of the songs at first glace. I guess I have to unlock the songs maybe? Otherwise I'm disappointed by the song selection. The DLC is small-ish I think and cost 200 Wii pts to download. There are some free songs you can download but not much. I think I like the song list of Rock band more.

The game itself is different from GH:III. On the drums at least, I hate how I have to use the controller to go up and down and then strike the drum to select or go back. Why couldn't I use the cymbals instead? For example I would use the controller to scroll down, strike the green drum to select and the hit the plus button to play the song. How about a double tap to select and confirm?? In career mode, I have to play the entire gig which can consist of 5 songs but there's no real pause or place to rest. The "Boss" battles don't have those power ups like in GH:III so that might be good and bad depending on your taste. Once in a while you'll get famous singers who drop in on your gig but I don't think they look anything at all to their real life singers. I hate the loading time. It's bearable but ugh. I think the vocals are too low volume wise. The music doesn't quite as rich.

I only play on Medium since Easy is way too slow for me and I haven't even mastered or gotten that far in Hard on GH:III yet. I'm using the guitar to get through career, learning the drums and I'm totally atrocious on mic. My neighbors will hate me when I hook it up to my 5.1 sound system instead of the tv speakers.

Just got it myself, albeit only with the Guitar. The guitar controller is a big improvement.

Ugh...I should have known this before but you can't use the instruments for GH for the Wii with any of the rockband games. Makes sense I guess. The songs for GH are just ok. I finished every on career for Medium. GH:III had a much better song selection.

That was definitely cool! Never thought I'd see anything like that.

I just got it last night. It's pretty awsome. I want more songs that I know and like.

This video was awsome.

I think that's probably the way to go. The DLC system for RockBand is great.

How did you do that? I pretty much only do the drums, and I've never gotten a blister or raw spot. Are you holding the sticks really tightly? (don't!)

That's the fun part. I liked it so much I got the ION Drum Rocker drum kit. Takes it to a whole new level.

Is that the really expensive one? The one that doubles as a real Electric Drum set?

Umm... it wasn't that expensive

I've since added a ride cymbal. It's awesome.

As a peripheral that costs as much as an XBox 360 Pro unit, I'd say it's pretty expensive.... but if you play a lot of drums on Rock Band, it's well worth it.

Granted, if you want to talk about expensive peripherals, go ahead and Google "Steel Battalion" for the original XBox.
