I'm in mixed emotions. I'm about 30% through the second disk and I'm not too impressed with this game so far. It just didn't grab me like seven did. I like the battle system a little better, but I miss the cool limit breaks. I've only seen one summon, but so far, I'm not as impressed as I was with the summon spells in FF7. They just seemed flashier, even though they were painfully long at times.

I'm looking at the end of this strategy guide and it seems as if they half assed remade the first final fantasy (from nintendo) Don't get me wrong: I loved the original. But I think if you are going to remake it, you ought to do it justice by sticking closer to the original storyline.
Anyone have some thoughts on this one?

Also, are the sidequests as enjoyable as they were in FF7? (Fighting the Emerald and Ruby Weapons, Battle Arena, chocobo racing to get Knights of the Round)

Can someone tell me if I'm going to be disappointed with FFIX? (so as to cushion the blow)

don't know. FF8 is still in it's original shrink wrap. (I got it for free and have not yearned to play it yet.)

Anyone here actually play through FF9?

I played through it, and I agree, it gets a bit slow about the second disk. But if you stick it out for a little bit longer, it gets well worth your time. I completed all the side quests, except for beating (Ozma)? Thats one hard bitch.

I did kinda get into the Chocobo HAC game, and its well worth your while to finish it, as you get some powerful stuff. I got all but 1 card in Tetra Master (damn Namingway card), but I didnt really try until about the middle of the third disk to get cards. I always picked up the ones the strat guide said, but I rarely played. Once you get a few really good cards, its pretty easy to win every time. I kept up with my Mognet quest as well, but that was pretty simple, and the onyl benefit i saw to it was gettign to meet Stiltskin (or however you spell his name), and get stuff from him. I didnt spend too much time doing Quina's crap, as I rarely used him/her. I cant rally think of any other quests, but if you have any other questions, ill help ya out as best I can.

FF9 has the best cinemas by far, but overall FF7 was a better game. Maybe its just because it was revolutionary for the FF line at the time. I got like 10 hrs through FF8 and quit. It just plain sucks.

FF9 is a good game, and I think you will like the ending. Sure, its a little sappy, but good for the story. The story gets better as the game progresses, and the cinemas get awesome. The last few cineams even rival the ending to FF7, but I think that is still probably the best CG of all time.

Anything else you want to know, just let me know.
