counterstrike crashes in xp

I'm having various problems w/ Counterstrike. From time to time it'll freeze my computer after i quit the game and i'm forced to hit the restart button. Sometimes i'll be in a game and lose my buttons but be able to only look left and right w/ the mouse. The same thing happened to my frend when he had XP running on his system. much help needed.

sys specs:
Abit KT7A w/ RAID Motherboard
1.0(10x100) @ 1.33(10x133)Ghz AMD t-bird CPU
2x 128MB PC133 SDRAM
1x 256MB PC133 SDRAM
2x 20.5GB IBM ATA100 HD in RAID-0 strip
Elsa Gladiac Geforce2 GTS 32MB DDR-SDRAM (using 21.83 nvidia drivers)

Your specs are similar to mine, other than the fact that you have a RAID. I've had weird errors in CS that I really didn't know how to fix. I guess the best way to fix these random stupidity is to do a clean install. Remove CS and HL completely. Install HL. Patch it to the max. Install CS, and patch it to the max.

Not much help, but it works...usually...

No problems like that on my side either, I'm also on XP. One thing that does bug me though, is that I can't hit ESC during a game because the screen would attempt to resize and freeze. I'd have to ctrl alt del and end HL.exe

To leave the game without freezing in xp, bring down the console and type quit. Works for me.

or type "exit" without the ""

But the thing is, sometimes when changing names you have to go to the customize panel and that will freeze it. Or if you need to modify things a menu prior to that. Oh well

If you need to edit your name you can do it from the console.

1. Bring down the console
2. Type ]name "your name" w/o the ]
3. Hit enter
4. Exit the console

*NOTE* ] signifies the console prompt

Sometimes I have to ]name "a" first before I actually ]name "my name" because CS is weird like that.

Hope this helps
