Whatever happened to cool endgame scenes?

Does anyone know whatever happened to those huge victory scenes at the end of games? Now its always just "you win." Even teenage mutant ninja turtles has a cooler ending scene than that. is it just the rush to get it out the door?

Don't know what game your talkin about, but the ones I own have great ending scenes. Much more than the, "You Win!" crap.

I hear ya. Damn Wolfenstein and MoH:aa endings were such a let down especially after putting days into beating them.

Yup, some game endings should have like 10 min of FMV or something like that. Someting meaningful too. I just feel robbed when I spend countless hours to see the ending and they give you a cheesy voice narrative or something. That's retarded.

oh lord...the ending to MOH:AA is horrible. It's literally "THE END" and that's IT. Pretty horrible.

i know, i loved the end to halflife, short but a cliff hanger and well worth it. but then you play something like ghost recon for 2 weeks on elite making sure no one on your team gets killed and they all have every medal, and then the end scene shows them sitting together on a hill. what a waste

These companies will hire 50 programmers for the game. Thats cool. Hire ONE writer please. Just one. Thats all it takes.

A Blizzard Movie

Depends what kind of games you are talking about.
An idea my friends and I were tossing around is how good would a Blizzard title be if there were a movie adaptation made of it?
That could be an alternative to a kickass 10 minute FMV ending scene, no?

Red face WORD!

I've been saying for years how much console games endings are so much better than most PC endings. Even our favorite games have lousy endings. Half Life's could have been so much better, and Opposing Force's and Blue Shift's were just lame.

Bright(er) notes: Arcanum's ending was really good, as it depends upon your actions during the game. The Fallout games had fairly good, "You win...and this is the fruits of your character's labor" endings.

I think the sucky endings also have to do with the designers wanting to build sequels, so they tack on a stupid "to be continued" ending. (every FPS out there)

I wish the ending of Moh:aa was you blowing away Hitler at point blank than making Eva Braun give you head, then you take her back to the states and live happily ever after.

Storylines in general are getting pretty damn crappy. For example, Metal Gear Solid 2 had the most unbelievable (not in a good way), piece of crap story line. It just didn't make sense. Sniffing out bombs with a cologne sensor? Geez. Also, Final Fantasy X story line didn't make too much sense. They just bust out these outrageous ideas and string them together. I think maybe they're focusing too much on gameplay and graphics and maybe not investing in writers. One of the reasons Max Payne was such a bad ass game was the story line. That's how it should be done.

MoH:AA is the worst ever .. for a game with such a hype .. its a major disappointment ...

the game itself was already too easy and every level is about as simular as the previous one as its to the next ... *yawn*

at least have a good ending .. but no ... MoH will be a game quickly forgotten .. nice in game little touches i'll give it that .. but in game movies with flying corpses and dust that pops up when grenades hit doesnt make it good .. gameplay does ..

next!
