GameSpy Arcade, Tunnel and Xbox

Hmm, no thread.. Anyway, question:

Does the Xbox just sit on your network as another node and plug into your router?

From what I read, it sounds like you can just place a NIC into the X-Box, then run a line directly into your home network.

Which is really freakin cool.

/me wonders why the PS2 doesn't have that yet.

Kinda makes me wanna buy an X-Box.

For you to be right Corsec you would need software from Gamespy. I have to assume it requires a hub.

well the xbox itself does have its own built in NIC. i was under the impression though that it had to be like hooked up to a host computer in order for this to work (ie, two NICs in the host computer, one going to the xbox, the other to the Net). but hopefully i'm mistaken..?

Many different ways to do it. I'm trying this tonight instead of doing homework. And then I'll be playing tomorrow, thursday, friday, and then all weekend. See you Monday.

You need a PC in the loop. As in my case I used my laptop as the base of operations .. RJ45 from lappy to NAT box and then an RJ45 from XBOX built-in NIC to the NAT box....Load the GameSpy Arcade software and click on the XBOX icon...BAM! you are XBOX is now online.
Thx for reading,
DARTH

So... I try a zillion things to get the tunnel to work, and what do I find on the tech support where you download it?

Quote:
The GameSpy Tunnel application does not support multiprocessor machines. If you have a multiprocessor machine you will need to disable one processor by modifying your Windows boot.ini file. Details are here: http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q170/7/56.ASP

Don't play Halo online. Everyone on there seems to be very good.
