Suggestion for Game

I was wondering if anyone could give me a suggestion on a game for my PC. I can truthfully have not bought or played a pc game since 1995 (I think - if that is when Doom II came out). I always get my systems ready for game playing, but havent even tested out any of my systems for game playing.

That said, I used to play games like the original Heros quest (before they changed the name), Myst, Doom, Doom II, Iron Helix, Leisure Suit Larry (dont laugh too hard on that one), Codename Iceman, police quest, and the like. (Now if you cant tell how long ago it was that I was playing by the games, then you are just way too young)

So as you can tell I played most games that were out back then and had a pretty broad taste. I have looked around a bit, but truthfully dont feel like wasting my money on games that arent worth it. So let your suggestions fly.

In case you are wondering my vid cards are the 64mb mobility radeon in my laptop and a diamond viper v770 in my desktop (the desktop is a bit older and I havent bothered to upgrade it recently).

Thanks in advance.

seems everyone likes counterstrike, defintely a good choice if you enjoyed Doom.

I played Starcraft for a few years, and would recommend it if you need an addiction. You could probably ask some friends to use theirs, considering its somewhat old, and people aren't playing it as much. If you do decide to buy it, it'll probably cost you anywhere from $5 to $15 now. You can play it over their free Battle.net service, network it, or play single player. You can even design your own maps if you like.

The most recent game I've played is Civ 3. Great game, like the previous editions. Would defintely recommend that too. Only single player mode. I'm not sure if they're coming out with a multiplayer version.

although this game is old, Command & Conquer is pretty fun. They have lots of different versions.

I was at Costco today, there was a starcraft set with both the game the expansion pack and something else for $15. There was also a game called Black and White? Does anyone know anything about that game. It looked kind of interesting.

I am probably going to pick up the Starcraft set, but was wondering about the Black and White also. Thanks.

I bought black and white, it got me hooked on it for a while but the bad thing is that it only lasted for about a week. After that it gets old... maybe it's just me though. If you're in one of those "weird" moods, then play the game. You can pretty much do anything you want in it. But starcraft is waay better

Too bad blockbuster doesn't rent computer games like they rent PS2 or Nintendo games.

That would be nice. Got|CDburner? New games for 3$ (NOt that I condone piracy in any form, but as advice to the gaming industry, dont do this.)

Shogo...now that's a classic!

I just picked up Freedom Force and so far its cool!

Max Payne is great too

Diablo II and the expansion pack Lord of Distruction will keep you going for a good month.

You are not the only one. The only redeeming thing about B&W is the possibility of multiplayer, but even then...

As for Starcraft, that's a definite go. I've also been meaning to try some of the Warcrafts, but haven't gotten around to it.

Shogo, as GOD_DarkFury said, is quite engaging, but my dial-up connection is the only thing keeping me from playing over GameSpy.

Another really good game is Unreal Tournament. Possibly one of the best FPS made, IMO.

That's all I can think of for right now.
