Apparently this is something that has been going on as far back as 1995 when the European Commission started it's investigation. Nintedo and seven of it's distributors were caught doing cartel like distribution in order to raise wholesale prices!

To think of Nintendo as "cartel like" is rather funny. But then there's all the jokes you could make with Mario being the companies icon and all...

"It's a me, Mario! I just want to let all you little bambino's know that you will be buying me games. Oh sure you might want to play your PC's and a PS2's but this no good for me business. You better fine a little love for this a plumer here or might be taking the final trip through the warp pipe if you know what I mean!"
