What's the first Video Game you ever played?

The first video game I remember playing around with was Battle Tank. It was released shortly after Pong. You had two blocks that were suppose to be tanks and the object of the games to two shoot the other tank. That was it. Just shoot the only other tank on the screen then it would reset and you would do it all over again!

At the time I thought it was a hard game just because my brother would blast the heck out of me for hours on end, BUT NOW?! Sheesh! Looking back, Battle Tank made Pong look like fun!

So what was the first game you remember playing?

That was actually about 10 years after pong. You won't remember it, but we did have one of the first pong machines.

However, the first one I ever played was space wars, at Control Data when I was 9, though it's quite possible I played the arcade version of Pong before that, I'm not positive.

I don't remember the name. I remember going to a neighbors house back in like 1st grade and playing a an adventure type game on his computer. I do remember the copmuter was a zenith and had a yellowish-orange monochrome monitor. I'm pretty sure it was a Zenith.

HAHAHA.. I was going to post this topic when I got home.. Someone reads some other forums (I forgot whether it was DSLreports.com or something else I came across today)

Wow.. i can't even remember..[Thinking]..........[/Thinking]
I believe it was for the Odyssey system, can't remember the names..

I do remember programming Top Gun for the Commodor 64.. pretty hard for an 8 year old who doesn't know how to type (gotta love my older brother's who told me I could play if I spent the 8 hours typing, then not letting me play at all)

Then we bought the tape drive and saved it..

Then they said I could play if I sat in front of the computer the whole time it took to load the game .... all 2 hours of loading..

Gotta love older brothers..

BUT!!! the game that got me hooked on PCs was Leisure Suit Larry 1

My parents bought the Magnavox Odyssey when I was a wee lad, so my first video game was Pong.

My console history:

Magnavox Odyssey
Atari 2600
Atari 7800
Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Playstation 2
XBOX

Didn't really console game between the SNES and the PS2, mostly played PC games.

We had that little paddle pong game thingie. It was like tan with these brown sliders on either side and you slid it up and down and hit a "ball" back and forth. I think its the same thing you guys had.

Than arcade games.

Than 2600.

Nintendo.

SNES.

PS1

Computers

PS2

Better computers/video cards

They actually make those. I don't think they have Pac-man but they do have Ms. Pac-man and a few others. They might even have a way to score Pac-man for ya!

So you really miss playing them old games from the 70's and 80's? Check this out: http://www.electronickits.com/classi...videogames.htm

For

$50 bucks you can get this kit that will let you play all those games right off your TV. I might have to look into this...

I can't remember the first game I played. I remember this old text based adventure game, simply titled "Adventure", that I had on a floppy. I think one of the first few games I played diligently was Super Solvers: Midnight Rescue (had to do a lot of searching to remember this title). Anybody remember this one? It's kinda of a educational title, but it was fun as hell. Also the Where in the World/Time/US History is Carmen Sandiego series. hehehe

Some atari game. It was a side scroller and set in a jungle and you swung from vine to vine to get across casms.

Good old Pitfall Harry! That turned into a bad Saturday morning cartoon and the games they made in the 90's were really bad. Nothing like the original!

I remember playing Math Blaster and the Oregon Trail back in elementary school. You couldn't get me out of the computer room!

PONG was my first video game. I cant believe how many hours Ive logged on that game. I saw a comercial with the game pong in it on the G4 network and I told my daughters that I used to play that for hours at a time and they looked at me like I was crazy.

Since someone brought up Pitfall Im not afraid to say Im geeky enough to have gotten the Pitfall Adventure Patch. I remeber the day I did it too, I was all excited and got my dad to take a picture of me and the sceen where the score was visible. You sent activision the picture and they sent back a patch and certificate. Ill bet I have that picture and the patch somewhere.

My first was the Atari system. My cousins got one and I would go over and play on it constantly. THEN, my mom went to Sears and brought home the Intelevision and Burgertime Along with a bunch of other games. We also picked up the intelivoice add on for that with bomb squad and the two other titles made.

After that it was the Nintendo and the super nintendo. Then I moved out of the house and had nothing

About 5ish years ago, I built my PC and started playing diablo and I am slowly catching up. Oh and we did get a PS1 2 yrs ago and I upgraded to the PS2 in may

That pong system you were talking about, Donnie still has one! And it works! We know the one atari system (he has the sears version of the 2600 too) works. Mikey plays it more than the PS2. We have a ton of games (if you have any in a closet, send them my way )

DUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!! that is awesome. thanks apm. i dont think i can spend 2500 bones on an arcade cabinet right now, but i am going to buy one of these in the future. the area code of this company is actually really close to my house. they have a pacman/ms pacman combo table, but the cabinet is actually from a ms pacman game. they probably changed the rom to a combo.

actually, now that I think on it, I believe the very very first Computer game I played was Oregon Trails. The first version. The one that ran off of a teletype (that's paper boy, no monitor) terminal dialed into the U of M mainframe at 120 baud, 300 if we were really lucky. Yes, that's 120. When you had to shoot, you have to type P O W with each letter taking about 5 secs to respond. I remember bringing home the huge printout when I finally won that damn game....must have been a good 50 pages of paper.
