Question Sims Online

Just wondering....is the beta test still available? Some reviews from those of you who've played it would be swell also.

I remember Corsec downloading this for me, but then we noticed money involved. Were we wrong? Don't you have to pay to play SIMs Online?

you should only have to pay if you are having it shipped to you on a cd. the download should be free. it was as of early last week. haven't checked since then.

Do I need any of the SIMs CDs to play? If I do, I can't play till later since my CDs are elsewhere.

as far as i know, they did some big wipes recently, so when i came back from spending thanksgiving at home, all the characters i had created were gone...

and since the free beta test is gonna be over as soon as the game goes commercial (which is like in a couple weeks or so; i forget the exact date), i just uninstalled it...

So is Sims Online any good? I was addicted for a while to the original Sims. now I am very curious about this online version after reading a few reviews and seeing it on TV a few times.

it's not a bad game. in fact, it's pretty decent. but pretty decent isn't nearly good enough for me to fork over $50 or so for the game and $10/month to play. i'd rather play medal of honor online or something....

ahh so it is like Everquest, yo uhave to pay to play after you pay for the software.... that isn't cool...

have any of the other Sims exspansions be supported in a multiplayer lan game or is can Sims Online be played on a lan rather than online?

nope. it's only playable online. it's basically a chat room inside of a sims game. i enjoy it but it gets boring building up your skills so you can make money. there's also not enough sex, violence, and cars for me.

yeah, honestly, it's really nothing more than a glorified chat room...

someone wrote somewhere that it's basically a chat room with avatars that eat, sleep, play music, swim, read books, etc, which is pretty much true. and yeah, the skill-building gets really tedious and repetitive, and once the novelty of the game wears off, there really isn't a lot (in my opinion) holding it together as a "game"...

Well damn.... if you could play this over a lan that would be cool. My girlfriend and I both like playing this and it would be cool to actually play in the same game on a lan. oh well. there goes that.
