Parents go after sniper games now…sheesh!

The article...

America's Army is getting hit by parents for their sniper simulation now. Even though the recent sniper attacks ( and all before it) had nothing to do with video games. Parents are still concerned that some kid will play this game and go out and slaughter as many folks as they can…here we go again!

"Jack Thompson, a father and a Miami attorney is fighting the Pentagon. He says it's wrong for the military to unleash this game on America's youth.
"I'm a father of a 10-year-old boy," Thompson says. "And every day I drop him off at school, I know that he's at greater risk because some of his classmates, as well as others in the general population, train obsessively in these shooter games."
Thompson, who has represented the parents of children killed in school shootings, says he will file an injunction in federal court next week, if the Army doesn't pull the plug.
"While the Defense Department was trying to find the serial sniper in the Washington, D.C., area," he continued, "they were training new snipers to take their place."

Okay so how the heck does a video game train kids how to be a sniper? No kid is going to be able to just pick up an M-16 and go to town after playing this game! This just peeves me to no end that they keep throwing out the video game card every time something happens!

You can't keep the kid from playing the game so you try to destroy the 6 billion dollar gaming industry so no one can play a decent video game? BAH! it known that 60% of gamers today are men over 18. Video game are generally made for that crowd.

When will people ever learn? Music, nor games, nor guns in actuality cause violience seen in today's time. Most scenes are usualy from the influence of drugs, drinking, parent/family issues, and the list goes on. Judas priest, Ozzy, Grand Theft Auto, AA, and all the other bands/games dont cause someone to "get the gun, shoot shoot shoot"(quote from Man who judged Ozzies suicidal solution case). Its not the game that kills but the dimented mind who uses it.

Everycase thus far from Columbine HS to Ozzies suicidal SOLUTION are results of teens desiring to end their life from problems which exist usualy from their own parents/personal problems caused by their parents. If your kid is stupid enough to kill himself, then look at the reason why! Not games! Not music! Maybe its because the kid took drugs and lost common sense. Every law suit I see going against everquest, and bands that are "satanic" out rage me. I remember a teacher telling me not to listen to Metallica as it would cause me to do drugs and drink...........am I now? didn't think so, and I still respect and believe Metallica is one of thee greatest bands in the Metal genre. (there not sellouts )

Sorry had to throw out my 2 cents, what do you guys think?

p.s. oh yeah, I bet that dad played pack man or asteroids...he funded the video game company to derive newer, more "violent" games with his 50 cents

I've taken this opportunity to rewrite and present a more accurate representation of what is happening. Please enjoy.

"Jack Thompson, a father and a bunghole yodeler is looking for more PR. He says it's wrong for anyone to have any fun ever.
"I'm a father of a 10-year-old boy who I want to grow up to be a wanker like myself," Thompson explained. "And every day I drop him off at school so he can get beat up by all the other kids for being a jerk, I know that he's at greater risk because some of his classmates come from the lower class, as well as others in the general population, actually know these games aren't real."
Thompson, who has done crap in the past to get attention, says he will continue to act like an ass, if the Army doesn't give in to the pos demands.
"I have my head shoved up my stank ass," he continued, "and you know I like it."

As someone who has fired an AR-15 in real life I can safely say that playing video games did not at all prepair me for the experience.

If video games did have a training quality to them we would be a nation full of grizzled and hardened crack units of anti-terrorist cells thanks to CS. It would be immpossible for terrorists to do anything with these qualified CSers around.

If video games could teach us how to do things in life, I'd be lugging around a sword twice the size of me while casting spells and summoning giant monsters to take out bad traffic areas while going off to work!

"Hey boss! Can I have a raise in pay?"
"Um...no."
"Would this plus 7 Saber and a spell that raises an army of skeletons to do my bidding convince you otherwise?"
"You know...you would think so but I have this ultima weapon and a giant robot that transforms into little fuzzy bunny with big teeth."
"Gee...a bunny huh? Well, never mind then."

Not to mention the fact that you could carry anything on you without the need for backpacks and stuff.

Oh and almost everything can fit in your pants.

"Hmm, I found a letter. This can go in my pants. Ooo, nice doggy, I might need you later. In ya go. Hmm, nice lead pipe. It should fit right?"

I think my joke didn't quite work out...murf...damn Monday Morning. If you didn't get it, think Diablo 2 and all adventure games.
