Who's getting Steel Battalion?

For those who don't know, it's that $200 mech sim xbox game that comes with a 40+ button controller with 3-pedal foot pedal.

So who's getting it?

For the love of PETE! Come on let's see some details! How's it like? What does it take to set up? Is it easy to use or do you need a 6 month course just to find the "on" button?

One of you guys have to put out a review that I can link to on the game page! The people demand it!

Wow. That's one game that you want to rent first to see if you like it, but someone I doubt it is available for rental...

Actually, from what I've read, there is NO on button. There's actually 11 of them.

You start a mission by powering up the machine, which requires about 11 button pushes.

This could be a big step in gaming, you just wait and see! One day games and their systems will get very complex...In order to be a gamer you will have to attend college to get a degree in game playing. Later you might choose to get your PHd in gaming so you can play online and maybe teach others how to play for cheaper than the college course.

20 years from now....

(Back of box for MechWarrior 28: The Final Assault - Again)

System Requirements:
The Lords Processor VI - Faster than light speed
9,498 MB of memory
G-Force 8,493 MB card with 4D graphics and gateway to other dimensions
Brain Implanted Sound card with 500.5 Dolby Surround Sound
Faster Than the Speed of Light Extra Large-ban laser modem
Bionic eyes implanted
Cybernetic finger implants
The Monster 497 button controller
Direct Nuclear Power Plant hook up

Degrees in:
Basic Video Game Play
Advance Gaming
GODLIKE Fragging
Advance Game Controllers

PHD in:
Multi-Level Online Gaming
Multi Dimensional Gaming
4D Graphics (not just for mutants anymore)

Some of this might be over the top but I think I'm a close in my prediction.

I actually doubt it. The price is way too high for this to become a standard. Remember the Neo-Geo? It had graphics that far exceeded anything else that was out at the time (I think NES or SNES), yet it didn't really become a household name since the machine was $500 and each game was about $100-200 or something.

Steel Battallion is a luxury that few gamers could afford, and as a result, few gaming studios will ever try to pull this off again.

So do you think that controller thing will be good to use for any other game on the x-box?

Will they make any other game to go with that thing?

It would suck if the controller is only good for one freakin game!

I wish, but it looks like no one will make a game to use that thing. First, the controller is proprietary, and second, no one will devote developer resources to get that thing to work with their game since only a small small handful of gamers will have it.

Well, if that's the case then those who bought it should keep it in good shape. Maybe it will be a colloctors item later down the road...

I couldnt bring myself to do that. Spend $200 on a game that got only a 7.6 on Gamespot. Sorry, Mech Assault is better and 1/4th the price.

i'm just thinkin, the guys who convinced the game company (i don't know who it's made by) must have done a HELL of a job convincing them to market it... i mean, it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, economically speaking...
