Vivendi Plans Metallica Videogame
Gathering of Developers did it with K.I.S.S. - resulting in lackluster sales - and now VU Games has signed a game agreement with rock band Metallica. The contract grants Vivendi the worldwide rights to publish and distribute a vehicle action shooter featuring music and voiceovers from the band. The title is scheduled for release in 2005 and will be produced in collaboration with Segnana - a company that partners with Metallica on interactive and online endeavors. Metallica will also record an original song exclusively for the game. A sneak-peek of the title will appear on Metallica's new album - St. Anger - hitting stores June 5. Additional product information - including the developer and platforms - will be announced at a later date.

Why are game companies so obsessed with these "vehicle action shooters" that are based on some stupid gimmick like that WWE game?
What do wrestling or a heavy metal band have to do with driving around in a car blowing sh1t up? ![]()

BEcause that genre caters to the large and growing 'mid-america wal mart consumer' market. Dont underestimate the spending power of people in Oklahoma.
