Thumbs up Just finished Unreal 2: The Awakening... WOW!

If you haven't played this game, I HIGHLY recommend picking it up, especially if you have a high-end video card-this is one extremely fun game.

It starts a little slow, but after a few short learn-the-game missions, the game is a knockout. It reminded me of the last few missions of Half Life.

It's been out for a while, so it's fairly cheap.
www.Gogamer.com has it for only $15. Well worth it.

Great game, great graphics, spooky environmental audio, excellent story line, very creative weapons, etc.

Unreal 2 was nice, but way too short. You have got to check out Far Cry. There are 2 demos out each weighing in at 500MB+. The full retail game is far longer than Unreal 2.

Husband is playing the demo of Farcry. The graphics look tight! Very smooth in game play. I might even have to jump in on that one.

I started playing Far Cry until I realized there was no quick save. I cannot function without that so I'm putting it on hold until the supposed patch is released.

Why does Ubi Soft games NEVER have quick save? XIII, Prince of Persia, Far cry... Ubi Soft needs to wake up.

the quick save feature it not really needed in Far Cry. At least from what I can tell, I am just about done with the game.

There were a few levels where it took a while to find a save point, but mostly it was well timed. Makes it more fun instead of killing one guy, quick save, die, quick load, etc.

This game needs a beastly machine though. I am playing on Veteran which is the 2nd hardest difficulty. They describe it as: "Serious jungle madness. We hope you have a high tolerance for pain."

These guys are freakin hard! But at least it is challenging.

Canta don't be such a baby. Like Kacarpsay says, the save points are well timed. I have seen lots of good games that limit your save games or just have save points. They make the game more challenging. I tend to use the quick save too often when available, but I don't avoid a good game if it doesn't have it.

Haha! I have to have some type of hobby I can publicly participate in with my husband

But I do have to say I don't play well, I just enjoy the challenge. My daughter on the other hand started gaming with UT back in... what, 1999 and hasn't stopped playing yet. Her favorite right now is BF:1942. She's gonna be 10 in May. So don't be surprised if she pops up on a UT04 server.

only 10 years old?!? and already playing games like BF:1942? i find that hard to believe... does she play well? does she understand 733t?

when I have a kid, i would start him/her on classics like PacMan, Asteroids, Centipede and work up. (then on to Mario, etc...)

Why is it hard to believe? She grew up having lan parties every weekend and sitting on Donnie's lap while he played starcraft, diablo, C&C and others. She has always had some type of console game (she was 5 when she got her gameboy) and she has been on computers since she was 3. She started out memorizing maps and donnie set her up to play. She is not the best player but she hangs in there rather well. She does get a good number of kills and it was rather funny when she was controling the bots in UT and a couple guys couldn't figure out how she was whipping their butts. She plays with the guys when they come over and even though she is still playing games like pokemon ruby, she will let you know that BF is one of her favorites.

She's a good kid and will get better as she grows. It breaks her heart when we ground her from games and she actually gave up pokemon ruby for lent - she is dying!

Her brother on the other hand just turned 7. He likes to fly around in the planes in BF but that's about it. He would rather play on the game cube. He isn't as savvy as his sister - he gets his skills from me it seems.
