Huge Doom 3 improvement tip
I got this from PlanetDoom:
PlanetDoom Thread It involves unpacking the pak4 files with WinRAR onto the HD. I was running 800x600 with Medium details and still getting lots of stuttering, low FPS,etc. Now the stuttering is gone, I am playing at 1024x768 w/ high details and barely any noticeable slowdowns. Incredible. The thread gives details how to do this..I hope it works for you! |

This will help people whose slow cpu is holding them back. If you have a slow video card this won't likely help at all.

I have a p4 2.4..I guess that qualifies as a slow CPU nowadays..I also have a 9800 Pro..I have been hearing alot about the supposed miracle tweak of the seta image_cacheMegs setting for people with lower end video cards..setting it to like 96 or 128..I didn't notice much of a diff for me..

Tried it out, seems to work pretty well. I only have 512MB ram and a 2500+ (OC'd to 2800+) and this reduced the stuttering I was experiencing.
