I got a new mouse...now I can't change weapons quickly in UT2004. Ideas?

I just got the MS Intelli Explorer 2.0. OK mouse (I guess) but the wheel is so smooth and fast (even at the slowest setting) that I can't use it to change weapons in UT2004.

Anyone have a similar problem and a solution?

my new stuff

I have a similar MS mouse, mine has the side scrolling, but I am in the same boat you are in. In doom 3, it switches to about 2 weapons ahead. It sucks cause they upped the clicks in the wheel or something.

Heh... I guess hearin' stuff like that makes me glad that I bought a Logitech instead.

In online gaming... you can be dead in the 1/10 second it takes to switch a weapon.

It took me a while to get to used to it, but I really like the smooth scroll wheel. So much so that I bought another set for my wife's computer on the other side of the office.

The smooth scrolling is with accelleration is great for many apps but not for fps games. One thing you can look into is voice command software such as at http://www.gamecommander.com/ . MS was selling one too a few years ago, but I forgot what it was called.
