What's your fav board games? i just discovered "Sorry!" this weekend, which is fun because my friends and i kept getting revenge on eachother, and it's not too complex. i also like "Battle of the Sexes" and "Cranium".

I generally avoid new board games. I'll play it after it's been out about 5 years, or if someone who knows me well suggests it.

My favorite is Risk, followed by: Scrabble, Monopoly and Stratego. Stratego would easily be my favorite if there was a four player version.

Taboo is always fun because for a word game it always seems to get violent

Also, dirty word Scrabble is a guaranteed good time

Scrable, monopoly, taboo. Uhmm...I use to play this game where you built a castle out of plastic bricks over a picture of a treasure chest. And then you would use rubber band powered crossbows and catapults to fling discs to break the walls of the castle. The goal was to land the disc on the treasure chest. It was really fun.

That was called just Crossbows and Catapults. I had it as a kid. Fun game, but it made quite a racket that drove my parents mad. It was great because we could incorporate the castle pieces and catapults into our other war games, like setting up G.I. Joes, Transformers, legos, blocks, etc. Those catapults could be used to knock over most any other toy.

another question... what games out there are fun for just two people? i think a lot of games (monopoly) lose their appeal with just two.

btw, thanks for all the great ideas so far guys! i'm organizing a board-game night in a few weeks, and trying to figure out what to get/bring.

I honestly never played that. I hear it was fun. Hmm and if you guys have heard of it... Axis and Allies rocked in college. It was a replay of WW2 with people being different factions of the war. And germans could blitz kreig across multiple countries in a turn and it was pretty fun for like 6 people.

As far as two people, i would recommend chinese checkers, backgammon, and probably card games cause most of those work well with two people.

I imagine most of the nerds on this board have heard of it. it was an alright game. I think if you're going to get into a game that's THAT involved, though (1 game could take 6 hours or so), you may as well go for broke and move right on to the old Avalon Hill historical and strategic simulation battle board games. Think Third Reich, or Tactics II, or Stalingrad!

Dirty Minds (the first or the second editions)
Monopoly
Life
Checkers

Besides the first on my list, I just realized that I don't play a lot of board games unless it's with the kids...

And as for Pass the Pigs, love that game

Balderdash, Scattergories and Pictionary are always fun games for groups.
Monopoly, risk and stratego the classics.

Axis and Allies was fun if you had enough people to play it.
