S: WoW (at least finding a copy)

This might belong in the suckage forum, but it's games related.

So, today I decided I want to play WoW. I've been eyeing that game for a while and lately I've had a hankering for an RPG.

You'd think a game released 2 months ago would be easy to find. Nope. Everywhere is sold out. I'm going to hit Compusa and Bestbuy just for fun to see if they have it even when I know they don't.

i ended up having to order it online for my brother. i got it from EBgames, and it arrived 3 days later.

From what i have read from the official comments they are not making any more copies for a little while. Basically they have sold 600,000 copies already and before they make anymore they want to deal with some of the server issues that they have been having on some realms.
so instead of let more people in, they want to fix the problems for their current customers first. Sounds like a good plan to me, just sucks for people trying to find the game.
I'd try walmart and places like that, or order it online.

Damn. i just checked ebgames, buy.com, gogamer, gamestop, and some others and they are all backordered. Amazon had it in i think... not sure but you can try there.
Good luck getting it, its a fun/addicting game

mwhahahahahah!

So I had a plan to hit all the retail stores in my area. Compusa, Bestbuy, Target, and Walmart.

Compusa had none, so when I went to Bestbuy I had no hope. I walked around the games, and right at the end I found salvation. They had NINE COPIES!!!!!!

WOOHOO!!!! WOW HERE I COME!!!!

Oh %#%...i'm about to play my first MMORPG...

I think I played from 7-12 last night and it was a lot of fun. I think, however, I need people to play with. People online aren't actively looking for questing pals, so I had to do most of it myself...any one play WoW?

The server issues?

Honestly, when it's up, it's an AMAZING game. Take a flight on a griffin and you realize that what you've seen doesn't even scratch the surface of the game.

The last two weeks of my play time haven't been that stable, but I've seen some honest improvements in how Blizzard is dealing with the server issues. They've begun giving real information as to the server problems and what they're trying. And they're really trying, unlike other companies.

Trust me, you'll have no regrets. Just live through the server issues. I'm sure Blizzard won't let us down.

Oh are you talking about the fact that no new customers? Are they not allowing you to register?

All i know is the elune server Kacarp and I are one are having no problems. I have had a tiny lag issue only once and I have played the game for 30hrs. Besides that, no problems at all on it.

I haven't even installed it yet.. I'm leaving for Vegas in the morning at 7am.. it's 10:17pm right now and I've been doing laundry and packing.. if I installed the game and it worked, I could guarantee I would be a red spot on the side of the road since i'm driving to LV by myself..

If there is one thing I really appreciate it is when companies producing MMORPGs are upfront and honest about the problems and how their working to fix them. There have been some good ones, like CCP and Blizzard, and then there have been some real pieces of dogsh!t. Yes EA and SOE, I'm glaring at you.

Slaus and I play on Lightning's Blade and we have lag issues once in a while, and the server may crash for a minute or two (due to massive 40 on 40 alliance/horde battles). Otherwise, smooth sailing for us too.

You've played for only 30 hours? That's weak dude. Almost 7 days logged here!

Hit 37 last night. I feel like I'm doing a good job of leveling in less time than other people i know. Maybe not though. Lvl 59 in 12 days is impressive.

Blizzard has actually stopped putting new copies of the game out on the market temporarily until they get the servers stabilized for the numbers they have now.

I have respect for a company that will stop earning a profit to get their stuff fixed now.

And they've started to regain my respect recently (like yesterday) when they started to post real information about their problems and their attempts to fix it. Before, they just brought servers down due to "maintenance." Gamers respect developers who don't treat them like 12-year old schoolgirls who only know AOL.

Go look at the server status forum and look at the list of servers that are taken down often. Then pick one not on that list. It's not related to population size as others are speculating since there are some low pop servers on that list.

Recent events at work have forced me to stick around until the end of February. I am looking to start my own business and am willing to just leave here. In any case, I play when i get home from work and on the weekends.

Durotan hardly ever goes down, and coincedentally, my girlfriend and I are on that server.

Tahmurath on the server. Girlfriend's name is Deep.

I'm on Stormrage ... would not recommend it. Too busy. Like someone said on slashdot--

Imagine if you turned on your TV at 7 or 8pm and it said "please wait in line for your cable to work" ... I don't get bent out of shape over waiting to play too much, but they're right. It's a paid service, and they ain't coming through. I only forgive them because it's a top notch game
