Is there a site that can check your machine and tell you how it will perform for wow?

Exit Ironforge and head east. There's a fork in the road as you come down the hill. You can take either, but the right fork should be the easiest. It will take you up and around a frozen lake. GR is built into the hillside and will be on your right side.

http://www.worldofwar.net/cartograph.../dunmorogh.php
It's in the area marked Leper Gnomes.

I have a lvl 17 horde warlock on Frostwolf. I feel ya. Haven't played on there in a while cause there's always Disneyland sized lines trying to get in when I have time to play. Also have an alliance lvl 41 hunter on Lightbringer.

Honestly, even 512 doesn't even help. I had 512 (the other 512 was on order) and all main cities lagged badly as you flew in...

It wasn't until I upgraded to 1gig that the lagging has dimished significantly.

YMMV though.

512 -- works okay until you get into a big city
768 -- works great!

I had 512 in beta, it worked alright, fps would drop in big cities. Upgraded to a gig when I got retail. no real problems with it now.

I also have a geforce3 and an amd 2100+

A couple questions... when is the next shipment supposed to be happening?

And 512 RAM, GeForce 2, 1.7 GHz... should I even bother? (Considering a Spring Break purchase since school may lighten up spring quarter.)

I don't have WoW but I read this interesting bug. Here's a link to the move file. I guess somehow you can summon a pet and it explodes and kills everyone in the auction house.

Yeah I read it and it's really funny. It's not really a bug, but it is.

Basically, he was part of a raid group that did an instance. The boss of the instance casts a curse which has a timer. At the end of the timer, it deals a huge amount of damage. It happens that the boss cast the curse on the minion (he's a warlock, not hunter). The guy unsummoned his minion which actually paused the countdown (the bug is that maybe it shouldn't pause the countdown when unsummoned with the curse). Then he went to the action house and resummoned the pet, which resumed the countdown and boom

It's actually very, very hard to reproduce. You'll need a raid group (60 players or so) and reach the end boss. Then out of 60 people plus minions and pets, you have to hope he casts the curse on your pet/minion. The chances of doing that are very low.

It's still funny

Meh, it depends on who you ask. People will say Pallys are overpowered and should be nerfed, some will say otherwise. They did fix a bug with a healing spell or something so it may not be the case anymore.

I wouldn't worry about overpowered/nerfing/etc right now. I don't think there's a class that's way overpowered compared to the rest. It's pretty balanced.

The only thing that annoys me about Pallys is that they get their lvl 40 mount for free. I have to save up 90g for one!

I have a lvl 60 paladin. They are not really over powered in my opinion, just hard to kill. They have a lot of survivability but are supposed to be weaker on the damage side of things.

Good Things
  • Can wear plate at 40
  • Great 2h Damage weapon from a quest at 20 (can use till at least 30)
  • Seal of the Crusader = 40% increase attack speed
  • Pretty good healing
  • Excellent healing with the free critical heal talent
  • Free Mount at 40
  • 3 lives: 2 Shields and Lay of hands
  • Good at tanking 1 mob

Weaknesses
  • NO ranged at all (unless you spend 31 talent points in holy)(or do engineering - thats what i would suggest)
  • Weak DPS. Well soon once SoTC gets fixed (feb 15th)
  • No taunt type ability so hard to be a true tank with multiple mobs
  • Everyone is a Paladin (hard to get good gear on raids, lots of competition)
  • Combat can be boring at times

I never had a problem Soloing and could always take on very tough mobs. Could never see myself doing this with other classes. Being able to heal yourself and wear plate is great! The free mount means no worrying about having 90g by the time you hit lvl 40.
I can fill in for a tank or healer if really needed.

I'm having a blast with my Paladin. Only problem is so is everyone else, we have 15 lvl 60 paladins in my guild so that means there are always tons of them for raids... so we are all after the same items.

Paladins are great, so are rogues though. Rogues are more active though, more to do.

My priestess is getting quite badass. When I was level 40 I dominated a level 44 horde warrior. It has become increasingly difficult for me to solo quests since I can't tank multiple enemies at once, but when I'm going one-on-one I can pretty much do whatever I want. Let me also say that Mind Control is the greatest spell ever.

Mannoroth - 46 Tauren Hunter. From my experience with different machines:
1ghz, gf4 ti-4200, 1gb ram - runs ok, seems to lack cpu power to play well
(laptop)1.8ghz, gf4-440, 640mb ram, lacks memory too much paging to hdd for loading content, but works very well otherwise
3ghz, 1.5gb, x300 - No problems besides slow isdn connection
2.6ghz, 1gb ram, 9800pro - no problems besides slow modem connection

heh already done. But its really not that difficult, especially compared to other MMO games. The questing gives you great XP and even if you are a casual player the rest system is really beneficial. Take your time though, enjoy it, because the problem is once you get to 60 there isn't much to do:

Raid Stratholme
Raid Scholomance
Raid Upper Black Rock Spire
Do BRD if friends need help
Wait for more people to get keys for Onyxia
Raid Molten core with 40, die on first monster

PVP is ok, but if you get 100+ people it becomes an utter lag fest. Raiding capital cities like The Undercity would be fun, but it gets too laggy to do anything, and the bosses there spawn tons of guards and are super hard.

I raided Org with 40 lvl 60's to take out thrall... barely scratched him, his troll friend turned half the raid into frogs lol.

Would the paladins on Gotapex agree that when you reach 60 or close to it, that they should roll only on the lightforge set since the added Int and set bonuses make it a paladin set? I'm just really bitter right now because a lvl58 paladin I grouped with rolled on my Valor Boots last night after killing Kitronos. This was after we said at teh start of the raid "Does everyone know the name of their set?" Then before he rolled he asked if he could roll and 4 people said it was a warrior set item. He still rolled and of course he beat out my roll of 31. I'm just really sick and pissed off how Paladins in the last 2 weeks have jacked the warriors in my guild of 4-5 Pieces. We're asked to main tank all the freaking time to suffer a lot of deaths and durability loss yet we get screwed over.
