Game soundtracks for download

EA plumps for Apple iTunes
Game soundtracks for download

By Marc McEntegart: Friday 04 November 2005, 14:41

ELECTRONIC ARTS has announced that it is teaming up with Nettwerk Music Group to launch EA Recordings.
This new digital distribution label will allow users to download music from EA's games as well as wholly original works and remixes. These music clips will be available as ringtones or as mp3s. These tracks will be downloadable via Apple's iTunes, MSN, Yahoo Music, AOL Music and Rhapsody with more on the way.

While Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Music Marketing at EA has said, "Audiences today are media masters – they listen, play, download, watch and basically devour their entertainment in revolutionary new ways," it will be interesting to see how well the venture performs. Games whose soundtracks will see release on this side of 2006 include various Command & Conquer titles, Medal of Honour and more the more recent Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Believe it or not, I bought the Command & Conquer music CDs for C&C & Red Alert when Westwood initially released them. Frank Klepacki definitely knows how to throw it down.

If I could track down some old Chris Hulsebeck soundtracks, I'd really like it.

(The main title I can recall him doing was Super Turrican for the SNES).

Ya, aside from a few games today, I'm not really impressed with the soundtracks of today. Start giving me tracks of yesteryear and I'm there though...

I would give a limb for the track from the original SSX... it was played during the Untracked stage. I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
