What to do with broken 360

Any thoughts? bought it from samsclub

Dec 20th: arrived, opened up, playing fine
Dec 26th: frozen in middle of game.. reset, continue to freeze.. now nothing (just green light, opens and closes dvd tray, responds to turning on with wireless) no picture, no red lights.. green power from power brick..
Dec 26th: call xbox360 repair - 'need to send in, sending you a box'

Jan 2nd: still no box

Sams Club. You'll be able to find another one in stock soon enough...

Option one is kinda non-sensical, Micro$oft has never 'fixed something till it's right'

lol

good luck,

I bought mine at launch. Stopped working on 12/17. Called 12/18 and was overnighted a box 12/19. Recieved the box 12/21, shipped it out to MS's repair center (contracted out to a company called Jabil Circuit Global) in McAllen, TX the same day. It arrived there on 12/22 at 11:51AM. The repair center has yet to mark it as recieved in their systems, and is not responding to the emails sent by the people at customer support. If you choose to send it in for repair, beware, you could be in for quite a wait. You may be better off trying to exchange it.

I am so glad I didn't jump right in and get one of these things. It seems like everyone is having issues with them.

Here is the worst I have seen so far, this guy has posted a picture of what happened to a game he was playing. The 360 melted / drilled a perfect circle in the game disc.

I'd try to return it to the store since that's the fastest way you'll get a replacement system. I've been told that Sam's has a lifetime return policy on everything but computers or something, so you should be able to return it without any hassles. They'd most likely give you priority on any new consoles that come in since you're returning one...just ask them when they get their shipments in and call every day if necessary to check. I'm sure once they get more they'd hold one for you.

I thought about that route too, zero.. but Sam's club isn't getting any in locally as far as I know.. I'm holding on to the 'can always return to Sam's club' as the last option..

I'd send it back to Sam's and pick up one locally, but out of stock around here, of course..

I called again tonight.. spent another 30 min on hold..
"Well, it looks like the original return order got screwed up" (no, duh)
I have now been created a 'new' return box order which should be here friday..

The latest CSR seemed to at least know to send a 'large box' and said to send both console and power supply (no previous problems with supply that i know of though, light's always been green).. so I'm getting the large box instead of the small box.

So it looks like it'll be 11 days.. Dec 26th till Jan 6th (maybe) to just get the return box.. hah.. too bad I can't just ship it myself - dunno whether to blame M$, DHL, or the repair center.

Keep us updated...I'm wondering how fast they're sending replacements out now (especially since they're becoming more 'in stock' at stores since the holidays have passed).

Early quality control is a problem with every new system.

Got it back today.. so total turnaround after I actually got the box was not bad (1/6 -> 1/11)

I actually received a 'new' system and now have one extra HD..
System DOB was 12/1/05
Played about 2-3 hours, so far no probs

Nice. Geometry Wars is hands down the best game available for the 360
